Guest guest
Makes sense to me! I know that one of the indications for *not* refusing vit K is planned circumcision or any other surgery, because if baby is going to have clotting problems, that's sure how you'll find out :(Lynn in MO Hello, a quick question. 5 day old with type 1 tongue tie, was refused a frenectomy by ped because mom (with very sore nipples) chose not to have baby receive vit K at birth. Is this usual? Baby to get vit k tomorrow and will go back next week. Just interested re your thoughts? Guest guest
Makes sense at this point because at least for eight days it may be an issue. However, I have had it refused even after the 8 days but done by another provider who considered the age acceptable. The comment was " it may not be a problem, but I prefer not to be the one to find out it is. Guest guest
It has happened here, but she just went somewhere else. I understand the reasoning from the perspective of the doctors, and luckily in my area there are other options.Pam I have had many homebirth families have babies' ties revised without being forced to subject their babies to a procedure they do not want. They are told the risks, they usually use homeopathy and they have the procedure. Too bad the mom didn't go to someone else rather than submit to an unnecessary procedure.
