Pakistani " rescue " Update--- Well, The young man who stirred things up here last

week met my challenge. After explaining to him that his online behavior was un

acceptable, I told him that if he could convince me that he was legit, I would

do what I could to help him. He sent me 4 photos, his Pakistan National ID card,

and all of his medical records pertaining to his diagnosis. He is dignosed with

Hepatitis viris B. Does anyone know what exactly this is, and is anybody being

treated for it? I called my classmate (the one who is married to a man from

Pakistan) who had just arrived back in the states a few days ago, and told her

what was going on and asked if she could help. She had me forward the

information, and her husband who speaks Urdu, is going to try to get a relative

who is a Rotarian(Rotary Club) over there to get some help for the young man. He

was very apologetic and embarrassed for the way he came across, and hopefully

some much needed help can be obtained for him. His plight makes me really

reflect on how fortunate I am to have access to the University of Colorado here,

and it puts things in perspective. Bobby

I just got an email from the horse rescue farm I've been helping, and

the local TV news channel was out there today to do a whole story on

them. That really made me feel good because it was the email I sent to

them that made it happen. I'm psyched! I couldn't contain myself and

had to tell people. It really makes you feel good when you do

something good for something and you see the results of it. I don't

know when it will air.

Take care.

Penny,

That is great news! Way to go! I wish I could see the news story. Does your

local TV have a website?

Mac,

As a matter of fact it does. http://www.wkowtv.com/

It wasn't on tonight, so I don't know when it will be aired.

Thanks! I saved the website. So if you see your story on there let us know so we

can post it! I'll keep an eye out. It may take a couple of weeks for them to put

it together then air it. That is, if they decide to air it. Hopefully they do.

Have you thought of calling and asking if they will?

Jill, in no way do I think you over reacted. It through up of my red flags too.

After he emailed me pleading because he thought he'd been removed from the group

because of his nationality, and part of the world he lives in.

I wanted to prove him wrong. To let him know that humanity does exist. (Chief,

I can already hear what you're gonna say...) Anyway, I think you were right to

be alarmed. Even if I can't help him, there is someone here that can. CAIR is a

group of Islamics here in this country, and they are suppose to do charitable

things, so there you go. I'll call someone in Detroit if I have to.

You shouldn't feel like that. I thought it was a scam at first. Seriously, from

a practical standpoint, you were being smart. I worked for the Denver parks

dept. And one day we came across a guy who was down in the grass. We asked him

if he was ok, but he just mumbled, and slurred his words, and looked like the

other million winos I had seen before. We did the standard thing which was to

call our dispatch to have them call the FD to come out and evaluate the guy and

take him down to detox. A cop showed up,first and questioned him and the guy

seemed to be uncooperative, and the cop used his shoes to sort of kick the guy's

arms around, and poke and prod at him, you know, roll him over etc. Finally the

cop cuffed the man, and then the firetruck arrived. The man was suffering from a

diabetic coma. He was not drunk at all. He was in serious trouble, and I felt so

bad. For years I carried that guilt around. I cant imagine how I would feel if

that happened

to me. Chief, with everything thats going on, we do have to be careful. Besides

we all love your sarcasm. It's a way of coping. rwe

long life, old age, everything good-Apache prayer

yup, gotta be careful especially on the internet. sugar out of whack can cause

drunk like symptoms, i once had a conversation with a stack of lumber at lowes.

i could tell my sugar was tanking when i pulled in the paring lot but i figured

i could get my lumber bought and then sit down rest and have a snack.....wrong

answer. i watch it (sugar) like a hawk these days.
