Guest guest
Hi Diane, I'm LInda & I have severe fibro. There's different degrees of fibro. I happen to be one of the lucky ones LOL ! Your symptoms sure sound like fibro. Do you wake up feeling like ya got hit by a mack truck? Do you wake up feeling like you never slept? Are you stiff in the mornings? Do you have another autoimmune disease? Alot of fibro folk do. Some of your back pain could be pinched nerves. I'd go to my doc, Make a record of your symptoms, when & where ect. DON'T say the dredded fibro word, doc's don't like it when you self diagnose. They have a simple test for fibro. They press on 18 specific spots on ya & if ya hit him !LOL! YOU HAVE FIBRO ! Those spots are so painful, they'll bring ya to your knees. They'll also want to rule out other illnesses, like lupus, MS, stuff like that. I didn't think the tests were too bad. Mostly blood tests. The good news is... Lyrica helps my fibro pain,I take vicodin & a muscle relaxer too. Doctors are starting to admit fibro is real & that we need help with pain control & sleep. Some Antidepressents help alot of fibro folk w/ sleep & pain ( I can't take them thu) The bad news..... there is no cure, some fibromites get worse over time ( mine did) BUT, you can live with it & HAVE A LIFE. I pace myself so I don't get so EXHAUSTED. I work a little bit, rest, work, rest. Then NAPPY TIME :-) Slow soft stretching helps with the stiffness ( I still move like the tin man. My indian name would be WOMAN WHO MOVES LIKE STICK LOL) but I still MOVE. Exercise is a MUST ! Start out w/ a 5 minute walk. If you don't get cramping & pain, you can make it longer. The key words with fibro are MOVE SLOW, PACE YOURSELF, TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, STAY AWAY FROM STRESS !! & DO LESS ON YOUR GOOD DAYS THEN YOU WANT & MORE ON YOU BAD DAYS THEN YOU WANT. You'll find a balance that'll keep most symptoms low.( we tend to be type A people) I'm finding that the less processed foods I eat help. Some fibro folk keep a food diary to help find the foods that set off flares. Sugar, caffiene & any processed foods ( even diet sugars) can be a problem. Flares are those painful days. If your hurting, try heating pads, warm baths or showers, eat lots of protien & veggies, drink lots of water, REST & relax as much as possible, it'll pass. I'll send you a link to a good fibro group if you want or just search for FIBROMYLGIA on the groups page. There's a ton of them & you'll find lots more info there. I sincerly hope you DON'T have fibro hun but if you do, don't dispair, it won't kill ya & you can have a LIFE. You'll just have to adapt a bit. Feel free to contact me off group if you like, I love to help. god bless you, I live in my own little world, they like me there! Subject: RE: Fibro Sufferers To: livercirrhosissupport Date: Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 12:24 PM Hi all, I am interested in some information from those of you who suffer from fibromyalgia. I have thought for quite some time now that I might have fibro, but have neglected going to the doctor about it. I have mentioned to him on 2 or 3 previous occasions some of my symptoms and he thought it was just stress related, etc. However, I'm really beginning to think that something is going on. I have a headache, well really more of a faceache (in my jaws where they join my skull), almost constantly. I am tired all the time and can't seem to get rested. My body hurts all over and I have these pains that " grab " me in my cervical spine and run all the way down to my lumbar spine. It hurts so badly it takes my breath away. My legs ache and want to move all during the night. I have places on my body that are so tender I can barely stand to touch them when I'm showering and the tenderness never seems to go away. I have a " swimmy head " feeling almost all of the time. Well, you get the picture. Anyway, these things have been bothering me for several months now and they don't seem to get better, or at least they don't get better and stay that way. I do seem to have good days and bad days. I was just wondering, what kind of tests do I need to ask for to find out if this is in fact fibromyalgia? I'm not very familiar with it but I have done some reading and my symptoms seem to fit. I know it's dangerous to self-diagnose, but I've found that doctors sometimes need a bit of " push " to get them going. I know this isn't " just depression " and I'm really beginning to believe that it is more than just stress-induced. At any rate, something has to be done becuase it's beginning to affect my ability to care for Terry. I would love any input any of you might have. I trust you all and know you would only have my best interest at heart. Love and hugs........ . Diane C. from TN
Guest guest
Hi Diane, I don't have fibro, but my skin hurt all over my body after my transplant. I couldn't hardly stand having clothes touch it. I think it had something to do with the meds. It finally stopped once I stopped a lot of my meds. It still gets that way sometimes over my liver by my incision. Of course, it's numb there too, and it's a weird feeling with the two combined. I hope you find out what's going on and you get relief and take care of yourself. My best friend has fibro, which she developed after the chemo she had for cancer.
