Guest guest
I believe the system definitely needs to have an overhaul. It also needs to be fair for everyone. At the same time I don't think socialized medicine is the answer either. There should be tighter regulations in insurance companies. I don't feel insurance companies should be in the position to possibly allow people to die because they don't agree with a doctor and deny care. I do feel that health care standards in this country need to increase. I think it's become more of a business run amock. They can charge whatever they want, everyone will still need health care no matter what. What doesn't make sense to me is if they charge you $500 and the agreement with your insurance is they receive $200 then did the procedure or doctor visit really cost $500 or did it really cost $200 what happened to the extra $300. So another question to pose is, are health care prices over inflated to ensure profit? How do you think health care will change after the election? Do you think that there should be a limit placed on how much insurance would pay for a certain procedure to be done, causing you to pay the rest? Do you think that the doctor should have the last say as to whether a surgery or procedure needs to be done and not the insurance company? Do you think that the health care should have standards of what they all would cover and then have plans that give you further coverage if you want it? Do you think the insurance handles your claims fast and efficiently or do you believe they deny payment for every payment there is? Do you think that if something is stated as being covered in your policy that they should not be able to deny paying that claim for any reason they can think of? Do you think that people should be forced to have insurance and pay for that insurance, like those who now are forced to have to pay for vehicle insurance? I would like to hear your points of view on this. There are so many with cirrhosis of the liver who do not have insurance. There are so many that are being denied disability payments. There are so many that may need to have the best coverage possible and have to see if their families can raise enough money so they can have surgery in order to live. There are many out there that have gone bankrupt because of having to pay medical bills. This is not just a problem with patients with cirrhosis of the liver...but with all those who are seriously ill and have no where to turn. This isn't a case of who is right or wrong...but how we can get better benefits and if they would work for the patient instead of against him. _
Guest guest
I hope it changes after the election. Nothing will change in Washington until we get the $billion lobyists out. We need an overhaul of the whole political system from Congress up. Congresspeople on both sides of the aisle are joined at the hip (or rather the wallet) to a " for profit " healthcare system. Whichever Party is in power blames the other party but is all smoke and mirrors and election soundbites. They have had decades to get it right and as of yet they have failed dismallty. I would like think another election would change things but from past trac records, all the wallet padding, I 'm not optimistic. Why does an MRI cost $8000.00? I can't find anything in me to look at thats worth $8000.00. Everything I got is either spoiled rotten or old, tired, and give out. Heck! I 'd give $8000.00 to NOT have to look at it. Guest guest
I so agree on the lobyists. Until that system is done away with the big bucks and large corporations rule on pretty much everything. I don't see how an honest man or woman in Washington cannot make alliances with big $ and still retain their offices. If they do reject the big $ and also manage to earn a little power and reputation in Government I suspect they might not live very long. At the very least they will have great difficulty in their next campaign. Seriously. And, if that is the case I don't see much changing unless there were a truly united Presidency and Congress working together. That would take some true patriotism on all sides. I don't know the answer on health care either. I did read once, an explanation by a doctor who seemed to have a very good grasp on how things in medicine worked politically and financially. Basically he said and gave examples that it was due to the control of the health insurance companies. I wish I could remember more now, but he had me convinced. I suspect lawsuit mentality is a factor also. I don't think socialized medicine is the answer either. For whatever reason when it becomes socialized it seems all efficiency goes out the window and we all might be waiting for livers or whatevcr we need a little bit longer than we have to wait.
