Logic tells me that if it is banned in any topical application, it would be banned in all topical applications. Do you have a particular ingredient in mind or is this a generalization? Pat. Guest guest
Jules, What is the ingredient? The FDA bans about a dozen ingredients for use in personal care products. Young KY Labs Innovators of Fine Personal Care Products www.kylabs.com OTC drugs & cosmetics Here's a question for the FDA regs experts... The answer seems self evident, but I've learned that the self-evident answer isn't always the right one... If a particular ingredient is banned or restricted by the FDA for use in OTC topical preparations, is it safe to assume that it is also banned or restricted for cosmetic use, even if it may not be explicitly stated as such in the cosmetic regs?? Guest guest
I didn't have a particular ingredient in mind, , it was just a question that occurred to me while doing some other searching and coming across OTC info. I was just curious if there was any regulatory cross-over since the drug side of the FDA appears to have tighter regulations on what can go into a product. Jules > Jules, > > What is the ingredient? Guest guest
Jules, Again, one can rationalize that OTC drugs are in cosmetic bases therefore if the FDA has banned an ingredient from an OTC drug then that ban would also hold true for other personal care products. Guest guest
Thanks , that's kinda what I thought, but I've gotten in trouble before for picking the " obvious " answer where a gov't agency was concerned *grin* Whatever would we do without you, ? *smile* Jules in Vancouver > > Jules, > > > > What is the ingredient?
