They have lost, just as women and men have lost. Mothers can't be expected to bond when life is torn from them, and they know they have no choice but to return to their cubicle before their body is even healed. Our economy can't afford to factor in humanity. >> God, Deb, it is so true. Does the Muse Deborah have an answer? I waited to have Nicolas until I could afford to stay home with him. And then got pressure from absolutely everyone to go back to work. Even the woman who doesn't want to go back to the office gets heat from her environment to continue bringing in those dollars, pump up that volume. And, part of it is just plain greed. When you've been generous with people around you, they all want more and more. And, even if you yourself are willing to live simply, they may want a new living room set. Deb, it's really hard, I don't know the answers and tonight and almost whenever I run into this pain of the children, it really makes my stomach hurt, and I don't know the answer. The only thing I know is to keep talking about its value and to keep giving concerts to raise funds for disadvantaged or disabled children. I really love this argument: " violence on television has no effect on children (or adults for that matter) " says the programming brilliant minds. These same people are paying over a $1,000,000.00 for 30 to 60 seconds of ad time during the Super Bowl. I guess you'd spend a Million dollars for no effect, huh? And, then child or adult has a problem, let's not go to the source of the wounds, let's just give it Prozac, or Ritalin, or some other lovely such neurochemical while absolutely no one has any idea of the consequences, the chemical effects, nor the long-term effects of these drugs. Thank God, there's a movement here in Washington to ban these drugs to children under 7, it's about damned time. Did anyone see the little movie " DreamWorks " put out about Moses life? I forget the name of it, but it's in the video stores and quite a beautiful little movie. I think Spielberg has gotten it, movies and film do make huge transformative impacts and they can be healing and good. THe music, the images, the stories, the archetypes, the themes, touch our collective conscious and unconscious in such a manner as to produce the synergistic effect that brings the " 100th " monkey syndrome to our human development bring the collective up. Which is what you discussed, Beatrix, it is the Ocean of Bliss ... i think most would agree that as one raises their consciousness it raises the whole. As an idea is ready to manifest it comes and if one doesn't do it another will. For example, Einstein's theory of relativity was discovered independently by a Russian scientist within six months of Einstein. When an idea is ready, it's time has come, as a wise young friend of mine says, " it's dumb to hold an idea for yourself, give it to the world and the world will help you manifest it. " I was going to bathe and calm after a long day and not post, but your post touched me very deeply, and these sorts of tragedies must be addressed however incredibly painful it is for us to look at it. Because otherwise we have the syndrome i termed at 17 to be " Apathy Run Wild " a disease I found prolific in the government and other organizations. Sometimes, perhaps, the best path is to become as healthy as one is capable of like a clear molecule of water in a calm sea, reflecting the sunlight beautifully, and thereby as I bathe in your ideas of inspiration and calm and you in mine, we all grow in serenity and contribute to a world of greater harmony. I left after some time (took awhile) mostly because I hate the entertainment industry. They did not think that what they did was important. They did not/could not see that all that tinsel they were stringing was believed... could not be a part of it. Fled back to stolid old Taxachussets. Happy to be home. \ph
Guest guest
Dear Bo - I'm really tuning in to the conversation you're having with Deborah and Phoebe about children, and in particular, . I was an elementary librarian for 10 years and I know how hyper-sensitive some children are to what's going on around them. They pick up so much and have no filters to protect them. He's lucky you're so aware. There is a woman I know who teaches a class for " over-intuitives " - it's for adults, but she has children also. She might know something about how to help children. I like your phrase " a clear molecule of water in a calm sea " - that's just perfect for showing how we're all connected in the collective sea of the unconscious. Good luck to you and .
