Guest guest
Allan, Improper drying of the nasal passages after neti can lead to infection. Do you drain the excess moisture out and do a sniffing routine afterward? The saline syringe is an interesting idea.. I've got loads of 12cc saline syringes around the house, actually, but even 60 ml doesn't sound like enough for a thorough cleanse. That's only about 2 oz., while the traditional neti pots hold 15 oz. and you use a half pot per side. The ceramic neti pots may not have a good seal at the tip, but the stainless steel one seems to have the proper shape for a good fit that doesn't allow the water to drip out nor obstructs the flow going in. Re. goldenseal, I hesitate to use it because it's nearly endangered, but I have a neti pot additive that includes zinc, goldenseal, and other herbs such as barberry, coptis, and grapefruit seed extract. I'm sure it's quite dilute, but I don't know the proportions. It's called Varcho Veda Neti Wash Plus, and I got it from http://www.nutraceutic.com/Products/Yoga/Neti/netipot.htm I got the " rhino horn " neti pot there, but I wouldn't recommend it. Not made well. The comparison of neti pots on the site that Jo posted is great, www.jalanetipot.com. -
Guest guest
>>You want the salt water at the " isometric " point ... that is, when it is the same as your blood saline. Otherwise it will sting. Just to be nitpicky, I think it's " isotonic " . Normal saline is 0.9% sodium chloride, which is what the one teaspoon per neti pot should approximate. -

I can just see this little workbook for isometric nose excercises: Dilate those nostrils! One, two, three ... -- Heidi

Guest guest
The muscles in your nose, when developed through exercise, are correctly called nuscles! :-) Sheila > > Heh heh.
