Guest guest
Sara, The Hero's Journey is always the Fool's Journey. The best description of this is in the Parsifal Legend (or the Grail Legend) where Parsifal is described as an ignorant boy living in a backward kingdom with his mother. He joins up with some passing knights of the Round Table and when he reaches Camelot he does a lot of dumb things. But his stupidity always seems to lead to a new adventure. He becomes the hero, par excellance. Gene
Guest guest
Sara, I have always been on a Fool's journey, though I didn't appreciate this until I started reading Jung and learning a little bit about the Tarot. This is a very spiritual thing as you suggest which doesn't mean necessarily traditionally spiritual but that as a typical Fool/Parsifal I have spent a lot of time walking off cliffs, chasing butterflies, and wandering in wastelands. (Here in Texas the wasteland would be an arid, rocky countryside filled with mesquite, black brush, rattlesnakes and horney toads.) I would imagine anyone who gets involved with Jung is on the same pathway. You're correct that we need to stay in touch with our inner fool. Otherwise, we REALLY make mistakes, and Trickster pees in our coffin. Gene In a message dated 10/8/2000 6:48:38 PM Central Daylight Time, saratw2@... writes: << Thank you. In the Tarot, and I am no expert, the Fool's Journey finally ends up as the World Dancer, and then it flips again to the Fool. So we start off in innocence/unawareness and end up with enlightenment then flip back to the innocence/unawareness and move toward enlightenment ...and on and on. The Fool. Number 0. I loved your illustration about the Grail Legend. And I am wondering if and Parcifal and you and I and others aren't on this same ride from 0-22 (Tarot) - Fool's Journey. There seems something so very spiritual about the Fool. I think when I lose touch with the Fool within, I become sick, like the Old King. Just my thoughts, Gene. Wish I knew more. >>

Maybe I should think about cremation. But Trickster might pee in that little container. Better for me to embrace the Fool within...
