Guest guest
Hi All, Once again, it has come up in a discussion regarding bumpie balms. I have questions again, and hope that someone might be able to solve the problem once and for all: 1. There is a difference between the soft bumps that appear over time in some balm recipes (blooming?) and the gritty, sandy feeling that appears immediately in some recipes. Can someone explain the whys and wherefores on this particular subject? Does or doesn't the heating of shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter keep graininess away? And is it the beeswax that causes the softer bumps to appear a month or so later in some recipes? 2. Another question is ... would it be just as well to omit beeswax from balm recipes altogether? Thanks if anyone can help. Cheryl Doss
