Guest guest
Few years back we had a water problem. Was dry so we checked the level first. Ours is 14 ft. deep, fed by 3 underground, sand filtered springs on an aquifer. Was told we go dry, the town is. When DH took concrete top off there were a few snakes swimming around in it and the problem was a well part coming out of well.. He removed snakes, found their entryway, and plugged it. I'd check it to see if there's anything evident in it or entry which could be a new underground spring, hard to figure with water covering. Any digging going on around you? Pond nearby? DH not here to ask if there is any kind of screen or filter at well outtake. Knew someone who got squirrels in their well more than once. Have no clue how but would be thankful for a fish, salamander or snake to a squirrel. Our well is 150 feet down, I think, and checking it is rather difficult at best. There are ponds all over, though I didn't think they had fish. No one has disturbed anything within several hundred feet of the well for years. However, there seem to be a lot of underground " pipes " all over the property. When we try to flush out gophers, the water never comes out the other gopher hole. On the side of the hill, water gushes from these little holes in the side of the hill (about 700 feet away from our yard) but we have no idea where THAT water is coming from. So I guess it would be very possible that some little " pipe " empties into the well. Anyway, I feel less crazy now ... -- Heidi
