I don't remember him considering them of any importance. I don't have NAPD, but my school library just got it, so I'd like to look it up if you have it handy. Guest guest
I would like to add my 2 cents here about a couple of books I think are helpful. " Dr Atkins' HEALTH revolution " . I capitalized health to distinguish it from his diet book. It's about 15 years old, but still has a lot of good nutrition info. The first part goes into WHY we have the type of health system we have today and what drives it ---- MONEY. He explains how he changed his own outlook on medicine to become what he called a " complementary " Dr. Now we would probably call it a naturopath. He believed you should use the least invasive/harmful regime first, and if that didn't work then proceed to the next. His take on why regular Drs. thought " natural " stuff didn't work was because they usually tried it last, (instead of first) after the body was radiated, chemoed and so poisoned that there was nothing left to work with. A newer book of his is " Dr Atkins' Vita- Nutrient Solution " . It has more up to date info on the latest nutrition and supplements, but is a much harder read than the first book. I don't think it's organized very well. On a related topic, the carb - insulin resistance issue. It was briefly mentioned and I think this is key -- it isn't JUST high carbs that cause the problem. It's that it's high carbs WITH low fat. Atkins talks about this and Price does too. Prices people had fat % much higher than the carb %. Today's SAD diet stresses LOW fat. Without the fat, the carbs wreak all kinds of havoc in the body. Carol K
