Guest guest
Well....the majority of her problems are identical to mine and the reason I am changing my diet. Most of my problems worsened when I was around 18/19 and have continued to progress until today at age 28. I had more back pain as a child as compared to headaches, and have several other issues not mentioned, but almost word for word I can relate to her. I am on medication for spastic bladder, BC, and antidepressants. I am hoping to ween off of these in the future as my health improves with diet. I have done the doctor course for years, been round and round with pain pills and medications. Hopefully she will realize the diet course is probably the way to go before age 28 . continuous menstruation Hello everyone, if anyone has heard anything about this problem, a friend of mine has had her period nonstop for the past 3 years at least. At that time, doctors told her not to worry about it and that her cycles would even out eventually. she's 21 now. she has an appointment with a gyno and made up this list to show her, and sent it to me to try to do some detective work. thanks again for ANY insights. oh, she eats an entirely sad diet and no red meat. Background info:1.chronic headaches cause and cure unknown, big episode when I was 9, 19912.first period when I was 12, 19943.chronic headaches cause and cure unknown, big episode 15-18 yrs old, 19984.started having my period twice a month spring 1999 (played soccer at the time)5.Fall 1999 went to gyno. She told me I was young and it would regulate eventually. Prescribed nothing because I wasn't having or planning to have sex.6. still 2x a month by the time I went to college, Sept 2000 had daily spotting, with regular 1 week period once a month7. saw doctor at PSU, whatever we tried (progesterone and something else) it didn't work8. Summer 2001 saw another doctor in town, got ultrasound, ovaries and uterus fine. tried birth control, painful cramps after 2 weeks on it I got my full period on the white pill not the sugar one. continued spotting again... stopped b.c. after two months9. Family physician prescribed Naproxen Sodium for pain, used it for first 2 days of heavy periods until prescription ran out, Spring 2003Symptoms:1. Spotting2. cramps-accompany heavier bleeding and 1-2 days before heavy flow3. bleed heavily for 3-5 days at least once a month, usually around the 20th (like my roommate). sometimes also during the first week of the month4. some days are light enough that no pad/tampon (p/t) are needed, but spotting shows up in toilet or when wiping (the latter is more often)5. don't have heavy bleeding or spotting when I'm really sick or around dog/cat (allergies)6. lower back pain7. headache and neck pain8. feel tired often ** i don't eat red meat9. scars/scrapes/bub bites don't heal well10. frequently have to urinate especially 1-2 days before heavy flow11. during heavier days, flow is heaviest when I first wake up and after breakfast12.on heavy days 1-2 I feel nauseous, have small appetite and diarrhea13. fingers and toes are often painfully cold. Guest guest
I hope she would respond well to you suggesting a change of diet. It will take time to have an effect but overall it is so worth it, as you know. On bleeding so much, I worked for a holistic MD who recommended a supplement of 500 mgs. of bioflavonoids (not sure how it is spelled) per day when bleeding was heavy. It worked for me when I had problems at the start of menopause. At the time I was already taking cal/mag, Vit. E, A & D, B Complex and Chorella. Guest guest
Wow, I haven't heard of that before, but I do recall a study in Africa (where doctors don't always have enough money for drugs). They have patients with abnormally heavy bleeding, high doses of vitamin A, via cod liver oil. 90% of the patients were healed with that, where here in America they would have probably needed surgery. I don't know if this is similar to bleeding ALL the time, but in general cod liver oil can't hurt. I used to have the study bookmarked but I tried my links and they don't work anymore. Personally, I would definitely wonder if she's getting enough healthy fats, and subsequently using it to make cholesterol, for her body to make the correct hormones. continuous menstruation Hello everyone, if anyone has heard anything about this problem, a friend of mine has had her period nonstop for the past 3 years at least. Guest guest
Dear , You have a very good point about her eating good fats so her body can produce hormones. Also her adrenal glands could be out of whack. Bee > Wow, I haven't heard of that before, but I do recall a study in Africa > (where doctors don't always have enough money for drugs). Guest guest
Here's a statement: " Treatment with megadoses of vitamin A (100,000 IU per day) resulted in a 92 percent cure rate of menorrhagia (excessive menstrual bleeding) at Johannesburg General Hospital in South Africa (S Afr Med J 1977). " from this article on the WAPF site: http://www.westonaprice.org/vitamins/vitaminasaga.html Besides that, when I started taking cod liver oil last March, my flooding stopped.
