Dear Sheila,

How does papaya enzymes digest meat? I thought that the enzymes in

fruits like papaya and pineapple are designed to digest their own

fruit but can't digest proteins? I really don't know and haven't

studied much on the subject. But HCl would definitely help digest

protein. Don't certain enzymes digest certain foods and not others?

Maybe the papaya increases production of HCl in the stomach and

that's how it helps.
