Guest guest
Hello everyone from Moon Hill Highland Farm where the cows are hairy and the sheep are bald. Having read the most recent 500 posts I can only wish I hadn't flunked my chemistry and science classes - sad to say it was all greek to me and it still is. I've long held the belief that modern-day food and environment are the main causes of what ails people and was happy to finally discover the WAPF website and, subsequently, the Beyond Price board and this one. I have my work cut out for me! My main focus will be on getting myself and my husband healthy. Once that's accomplished I'd like to move the focus to steering others in the same direction through example and education. My first question to you all is super simple but I have to start somewhere so please humor me. What method or item do you advocate to obtain clean water? We're on city water and, over the years, have lugged home thousands of gallons of osmosis-treated water from the supermarket for straight drinking purposes - we cook and make coffee and tea with the city water. Our animals are on city water as well. I'd like for all of us to have a continuous supply of clean water but my research stops at the domestic under-the-sink osmosis contraption which, I've read, goes through six gallons of water to manufacture one gallon of clean water. This would take our water bill to about the same level as our mortgage - not a good thing. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all a bit better and will be happy to follow up on any or all suggestions. :-) Marjon

We have a well, and our land is soaked so there is just no shortage of water. So we have an osmosis system. Yeah, it wastes water -- which goes into the septic system and back into the yard, so it's hard to say what is really " wasted " . Maybe some electricity, but the well doesn't draw much. However, the well water is rather ecchy when it comes out, so we have a Culligan system too. I don't know if it is the best, but it came with the house and it pulls out the extra minerals. I think if I lived in the city I'd want to build a cistern .. collect the water from the roof and keep it in a big underground tank. Which would cost a lot, unfortunately. I heard they do that in India, where they commonly build a big underground tank under the house for the dry season, and fill it up in the monsoon season. Our neighbor looked into getting an ozone system, and those do look nice. Ozone does a good job of killing buggies, but it doesn't really leave any chemicals in the water. -- Heidi
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group! How is coming along with his helmet since yesterday? I hope he is doing well. I hear that there can be an adjustment or two required in the beginning of treatment to get that first initial fit just right, so do give your ortho a call if you have any concerns about his fit! I do know that it can be agonizing making that decision on whether or not to band, but now that it is behind you, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for to have a great treatment and excellent correction. I haven't heard of scotchguarding a helmet before, but perhaps one of the other group members has heard of this. I do know that the products (cleaning/decorationg/etc.) permitted on helmets/bands vary from brand to brand, owing to the different materials that might be used. What brand of band are you using? Have you already tried the scotchguard, and how is it working? Guest guest
Hi Christie, We're using the star band and we haven't used anything on it yet. seems to be doing fine so far. He plays and crawls around as if he wasn't wearing it at all. He sweats quite easily (even without the helmet) so I started him out just wearing it for 30 minutes at a time. We're going up to an hour at a time today. It's supposed to be quite warm here in the bay area (California) today, so we'll see how it goes. Maybe we'll head up to San Francisco or to the coast if it gets too warm this weekend. I'm really looking forward to Fall. Thanks, > > Hi, > > > > My name is and my son (born 12/22/03) just started > wearing his helmet > > yesterday.
