Guest guest
interesting article... IIRC, it offers more evidence to one of Christie's recent posts giving 3 examples of people [incl. herself] who managed significant weight loss without added exercise, just doing Atkins. ..... " The underlying belief is that being " in shape " means being thin and no one would be fat if everyone exercised. For consumers, the take home message is that the whole point of exercise is to be thin. In fact, we're admonished everyday to exercise to lose weight.... Trouble is, exercise - as necessary as it is for us -- won't make us thin.... Guest guest
Here's my experience with that one....when I was in my 30s I training and running marathons. AND if I didn't watch what I was eating GAINING weight on a dime. Now this is running 10-15 miles for the most part daily for months. It wasn't muscle, it was fat depositing itself right onto women's fat loving areas..thighs, hips and breasts. At the time I didn't know a thing about high/low carb diets so I was doing what was recommended ...carb loading..this was 15 years ago. I couldn't figure it out, so I would just starve myself, run 20 miles then have the shakes when I finally got home. Can you spell stupid but I had no idea about high fat/protien just lots about eating vegetarian. I also gained weight once hiking on the Pacific Crest trail for two weeks. No one would believe that my pants were getting tight in the waist the longer we hiked! We were eating tons of carbs, all the stuff that was easily carried on our backs. The guys I was with lost so much wieght it hurt thier butts to sit on rocks for too long...go figure...I have a woman's very, very effecient carb keeping metabolism. I've also talked to women who said they gained weight while hiking the entire Appalacian Trail. Lynn
