Guest guest
, Probably people joining that Radiant diet group are depressed to begin with, because the diet is aimed at treating depression, so I don't know that the diet creates more problems or just that the folks there are just starting out. I also wasn't suggesting that it was the optimal diet for everyone, or that it's a great idea for everyone to eat loads of potatoes, but just that the carbs in the evening seems to allow the body to make better use of tryptophan by sort of pushing it over the blood/brain barrier. The evening carbs fits in with the warrior diet, where people are eating carbs at the end of the evening meal. - said: >>joined a board back pursuing such a diet - the diet is called Radiant diet. I just couldn't connect because everyone was having depression problems. That didn't speak well for the idea of eating potatoes instead of prozac. The point is that carbs via insulin cause the uptake of tryptophan - too many carbs and too much uptake out. It all comes from the thinking that if a little is good, a whole lot is better which is really not always true.
Guest guest
, Knew too many carbs can make you depressed. Didn't know too little would too until I gave up gluten and inadvertantly cut back on potato and squash at the same time for more lower carb summer vegetables that were in season. Luckily it happened at the same time I started reading The Schwarzbein Principle and she addressed it. Did post here of it and Dr. Marasco found it to be so, advising his patients going gluten free to replace some of the carbs. Neighbor does well on Potatoes instead of Prozac for her SAD, seasonal affective disorder. Wanita > said: > >>joined a board back pursuing such a diet - the diet is called Radiant > diet.
