--------->relatedly, michael recently sent me this interview with Lott

who did what appears to be the most comprehensive study on the relationship

between legal gun ownership and crime rate. he found that counties where gun

ownership was legal ( " right-to-carry " laws, specifically) experienced lower

crime rates. i have no idea if his data stand up under scrutiny, and haven't

seen the data first hand, but this article's worth a read, imo.
