>>>>>>>ok.

so we've been 100% NT now for 6 months or so. and for the last month? or a

bit more, we've been low-carb. and ya know, we live on a farm. we have LOTS

of good meat and cheese and milk and we get fresh veggies and life is great.

except that all i want to eat today is peach pie. and chocolate crullers.

and carrot cake and chocolate milk and ben and jerry's cherry garcia and

fudgey-chewy brownies and german-chocolate-cheesecake from the cheesecake

factory. and chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies and apple

pie with chocolate ice cream and ...

----------->LOL! well, i've been doing NT for over a year now and i just

went thru a phase of that. but a few things i found that quenched it really

well were:

a) hazelnut butter ice cream - NT recipe made with raw honey not maple

syrup. and you don't have to use much honey to sweeten it.

if that's too much carbs then:

B) hazelnut butter mixed with yogurt. if it's not too much carb, banana

mixed in is excellent.

for some reason hazelnut butter quenches my sweet tooth. don't know if it

would quench yours, but that's my suggestion! :-)

Hey! I was more of a Chunky Monkey girl myself, LOL. Any low carb treats you

like alot...like I would splurge on some macadamia nuts, mmm. I would love

to live on a farm. Is it almost that time... that'll do it to you. :)

take care,

Michele and Gaby(still picky and just wanting to eat soynuts and popcorn)

this probably has more to do with thinking about food too much while

still in the early stages of new food habits. simply devoting your

attention to other pleasures in life unrelated to food is probably

the only remedy needed. when i'm really engaged in some other

activity, scientific work, music, socializing, reading, etc, i don't

think about food at all and i could easily forget to eat altogether.

exercise, breathing, yoga, etc probably play a big role in having the

necessary lifestyle balance too, not that i'm personally very far

along those paths, but i think that's something to pursue.

heehee! so true!

this is normally not a problem for me, just hit me totally out of the blue.

my girlfriend suggested that my magnesium was out of whack when she noticed

that most of what i was craving was chocolatey. so i ate some magnesium-y

foods and i'm feeling much better. :)

Katja,

Avocado and or coconut oil should take care of the cravings or just a piece

of organic 70% cocoa chocolate. Too rich and bitter for more. This cold

weather takes a lot of energy to just function in and it can throw you off.

Not necessarily! I have eaten a whole bar (100g) in

half a day on several ocacsions. Even the 85% cocoa

choccy is palatable enough to me to eat half a bar at

a time! This is a side effect of losing the sweet

tooth - but it beats pigging out on apple pie and Sara

Lee chocolate cake and fluffy white loaves (all non

NT!)

I agree! When I was pregnant I ate two of those one day! Something I'm

definitely not proud of, ;).

Not necessarily. Some days, chocolate is like sex (at least for some of

us), you just gotta have it! <bweg>

Gotta admit, nothing like ending a warrior diet meal with a piece of

cheesecake. YUMMY!!!

Maybe its the bitterness along with intense chocolate that stops me. In my

sweets loving days could outeat just about anyone I know.

I thought chocolate was foreplay. <g>

I don't know anyone could eat " a piece " of chocolate. I could easily eat

several bars of it, if I could afford to and if I found some without refined

sugar. I don't watch my total sugar or carbs too much on the WD, so if I make

my

own ice cream with maple syrup and raw honey, I don't mind eating a quart or

two.
