Like, with herd animals, MOST of the males get driven off or killed in duels -- the survivor gets the females? Also don't forget the last few centuries, when duels were quite acceptable even in the upper classes, or duking it out with bare fists and knife fights and gunfights ... those weren't considered " homicide " exactly at the time but a lot of guys got killed. The Romans had the darndest time " civilizing " the Germanic folks, because they would get drunk in their longhouses and fight and kill each other (and really, you should save your fighting abilities to be in the Roman legion and kill enemies -- or in the arena where more people can watch). And the inner city in LA, guys don't expect to live past 25, they say. The current LACK of " men killing men " is an historical anomaly -- probably because we have a strong system of laws and punishments. But I think the lust for a fight is still there ... now it's channelled into football. -- Heidi
