Creative thinking heads please...

I have a Px who is not showing either great or expected results from a

relatively straight forward case history.

Px is 68, female and suffering from a very, very long history of URTIs and

catarrh with a three history of bronchial problems in the winter. Sinuses

were the seat of the problem with heaviness, pain and speech more or less

permanently nasal. Sneezing and expectoration most mornings. Non-smoker.

Catarrh and sputum were frequently yellow.

PMH

Throat has always been a weak spot since childhood with regular bouts of

tonsillitis that have decreased with age. Ironic since Px is a dancer and

actress by trade!

Candida and M.E. suffered from during the 70's and 80's, although successful

recovery using herbs and diet.

Other aspects

Px became pregnant to her fiancee, in another country, at 36 only to

discover he was married with children! The relationship with her daughter

although close can be very dicey and this complication is a very great drain

on resources as her daughter is often very manipulative (I have had daughter

as a Px too).

Px can also be, I feel, very self-centred.

Tx

Some authors believe that continual mucus production, sinusitis in

particular, is an indication of internal tears, so my approach has included

the obvious anti-catarrhals and some nervine support, apart from the

listening and care.

Herbs used include Echinacea, Verbena, Solidago, Euphrasia, Inula,

Grindelia, Urtica (as fresh herb tea), Garlic, Onions, Plantago, Borago,

Hypericum, Glycyrrhiza, Thymus, Stachys & Lobelia.

Diet is dairy-free.

Tx has been since June '99 and the results although showing slow and obvious

change for the better, have not been very inspiring for either Px or

herbalist - she still experiences chestiness and wheezing, still gets URTI

Sxs and copious catarrh - she also misses her cheese.

Any input appreciated...

Benn
