Guest guest
Hi Shan and anyone else who can give me insight I just cannot eat this much food.... I am coming in under 2000 calories on most days. Sometimes I eat over what SparkPeople suggest, but because of my size I can eat as much as 4881 with out gaining a pound and not doing anything. I'm getting in fantastic shape and I weeded for two hours straight the other day and yesterday I stacked hay at my aunts for over an hour. Now THAT is cardio.... They want me to eat about 2400 a day and somedays I just can't do it because I am a night person and I get up late and then try to fit all these meals in before ... and I am just not hungry. Does anyone know where to find the line so I can find out what the least calories I need to eat? Or should I try to get in at least 2400? What if I am just not hungry? I am also going to post this at a board at sparkpeople to see what they say. Lindy -- " Adventures free your spirit, let off steam and break up the monotony that is the trap of life. Guest guest
Lindy, congratulations on all of the exercise you are doing!! Weeding is such a stress-reducing activity for me, but I haven't had time for it this year. You can come and help me weed any time I will be very interested to hear what the Sparkpeople experts say. I still don't understand the concept of needing to eat more food to lose weight. People who get gastric bypass surgery eat very few calories and they lose weight. People who go on the Medi-fast diet eat very few calories and they lose weight. People in horrible conditions such as concentration camps or Darfur eat very little, and they get very thin, even skeletal. So what magic is it that lets some people take in much less energy than they burn and not lose weight? It sounds like the answer to the energy crisis Seriously, though, I think there is a hidden factor somewhere. My weight was plateaued for over 2 months. I started recording my calories at Sparkpeople, lowered my intake by about 800 to 1000 a day, and have finally lost 3 pounds this week. Guest guest
I normally don't chime in on things like this but you have hit on one of my favorite misconceptions. I hear all the time that when you eat less your body hoards what you do eat to survive. While this is true in the short term it is not in the long term. If you eat a lot then eat a little the body will adjust by storing food. But once you commit to eating less your body will eventually adjust to that as well. I am not talking about days or weeks but instead months. The hard part is that most eating is not summoned by the body but by the head. If one was to maintain the discilpine of eating less (Only what the body needs minus your diet amount) you will eventually lose weight. Fat=stored food. Okay then, Go ahead, let me have it now. > > Alice, I think it is how much you eat. If you have 1 to 300 cal you really > starve. If you eat 5 to 800 calories your body thinks it is going to starve so > it stores....lol...that is the theory I have. Guest guest
that's what i have read lately too. i have to cut down my calories to 1600-1800 and excercise to loose weight. I couldnt get any excercise in for a while, so i cut down to 1200 and i was always hungry and always busting my diet, so i gave up on that and aimed for 1600, and have been doing pretty good with it. Just the littlest bit of excercise at that calorie amount and I lose weight and i've stopped gaining except if i over eat more than 2 days in a row. speaking of excercise, the kid wants to go for a walk, so i guess i'll just limp around the block pulling him in the wagon. laurie > > > > Alice, I think it is how much you eat. Guest guest
Hi , Sardines are on top for all the esential numbers, interesting, best regards Bill > > I did a little research and found these numbers: > Sardines: (100 grams - about 4 oz) Calories 200 Protein 22gm Fat 11gm Trans fats 0 Saturated fats 2 gm Calcium 40 % Iron 16% (Daily requirements) This was for lightly smoked, drained, in oil > > Ground Beef: (1/4 pound - 4 oz) Protein 19gm Calories 288 Fat 23 gm Trans fat 6 gm Saturated Fat 35 gm Calcium 2% Iron 12% This is for 80/20 lean/fat ground beef > . > To accurately compare the costs, you would have to divide the cost of one pound of ground beef by 4 and then compare that to one can of sardines. These, of course are rough numbers and would vary with the kind of sardines and ground beef. > Most of us, if we bought ground beef, would choose a leaner mix, but then the cost also goes up considerably. Moving on to steak or chicken, we would have to evaluate 1/4 pound and compare those values with the sardines. I have not eaten a sardine in years, but believe it to be a nutritious and cost effective food. I once met an older African-American woman who had lived most of her life in relative poverty, yet had raised several children who had all gone on to recieve graduate degrees and had become professionals in various fields. She firmly believed that the biggest thing she has done right while raising them was to feed them lots of sardines which she called " brain food " > W. > Re: Re: not eating enough food- revisited > > > > In a message dated 7/11/2006 8:20:48 PM Central Standard Time, > wuregan@... writes: > > I too like sardines, but what you have to think about is, sardines > are expensive.
