Guest guest
i'm a very infrequent poster to this list, but an avid lurker and gain so much from those of you who do post. >>pps keep all those poor critters in mind - they must be so terrified, to say nothing of the farmers! a o i am very heartsick about the situation in the U.K. especially being an expatriate myself. i feel so for the healthy cows, pigs and sheep who are being burned for prevention; for the farmers who have to destroy in such a ghastly way both the animals and their livelihood. i daren't ask, but i hope they are not burning them alive .. but i just can't imagine most farmers having the means to kill so many so quickly in a more humane way before the burning. and the countryside of my homeland is being ravaged by this brutal situation. the tourist industry has undoubtedly come to a halt, which of course has negative consequences for the economy etc etc. when desperate things of this magnitude happen, can we hope that something good will come out of it? what about changing our relationship to animals as meat. initially fear of tainted meat, then unavailability of meat in the shops would go a long way toward turning us to other foods, i think. i at least have now the impetus for completely eliminating meat from my diet. finally, i'm at a loss to know what to do with these feelings of intense sadness and despair for those so terrified, .. it pinpoints and magnifies for me the imbalance of our relationship with animals. and reminds me there has been similar outrageous burning events in our planet's past .. tho i'm not *equating* them .. but the witch hunts and the holocaust. i am sure jung stated his view of these events, but i don't have the depth of training of most of those who post on this list. perhaps there is some solace to be found in a symbolic perspective? tess and my two houserabbits, camelot and tintagel " The greatest problem with communication is the illusion that it has taken place " -- R.
