Hi , When I first went to a PPP connection, and up until my great switcheroo last December (not only did I trial OE but also IE) , I was a die-hard Netscape fan. Never liked their mail though, but as I said before, it's all a matter of personal choice and what you are used to. But tell me, did you like PINE better?? :-) I preferred ELM for my mail although one system I used a lot offered me only PINE so I got familiar with it as well. Actually, I still occasionally use a system I telnet into that has ELM and that's what I use. However, I prefer ANY of the mail programs I've tried over ELM or PINE ! Thanks for the tips on Netscape. I have to admit that I still like their bookmark organization better than IE. Guest guest
Ruthie, E. D., I use pine a lot because it's on or easy on the web unix/linux servers for web pages. In a plain command environment, it's useful, 'cause U can look at mail on the server to control junk mail & delete possibly virus mail without downloading. I love to play with Windows, but in a command language environment with a basic knowledge or command list, it is very easy to get things done quickly in a couple of key strokes, without having to mouse around. Consider how ridiculous it would be for a checkout person at the grocery to have to drag & drop everything into a graphic basket. Whith the early versions of windows, some graphic commercial programs were tried, and they were hilarious in retail. But an accurate voice program that recognizes whose voice is the right one would be a killer hit. Ken For me, using a mouse or trackball for hours & hours seems too tense. Then you would totally love ( NOT !! :-) my remote control style mouse that has a track ball with standard clicker features, as WELL as a macro pad that looks like a remote control. I have the cord version, but the cordless version is just as bad. I thought twenty dollars AUS for a mouse was okay till I tried to use the damn thing. Just another reason for me to hate Tandy ( although I must admit that my oldest hand held tape recorder is a Realistic Minisette-15 from 1983, and the silly thing still works; however the only useful things I bought from tandy have been connectors, except for one connector I had for a stage Amp cabinet ... ever seen plasma arc on a jack ?? Loads of fun and to think that one reversed resister did all that damage :-) By the way, has anyway played the Nature Boy software game LEXICON ?? I have had loads of fun with a thinking game for the first time in ages ... at least it beats playing DOOM and seeing how fast it takes for me to get killed :-) . ****************************************** Milton | PH: 61-3-95104017 |santeri@... | MOBILE: 0407 841 426 ----------------------------------------------------------- http://www.eisa.net.au/~santeri " For in that Sleep of Death what Dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, Must give us Pause " , HAMLET, ACT III, Scene 1 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

And maybe with some cushion on it >too. ] There are all kinds of pointing devices out there. I saw a pic of a gal in the latest issue of Athritis Today and she had this large, very large, yellow mouse kinda thing on her desk...with a trackball, or so it looked like, on it. It was the largest pointing device I've ever seen. >Also tilted back like the old Earth Shoes. Never thought about >that interesting coincidence before. I had several pairs of those shoes. Absolutely wonderful shoes. There's a store between here and Syracuse that sells shoes similar to those. I haven't been there but a friend of mine bought several pairs there and loves them. I also saw some shoes when I was in Germany the last time that I almost bought. Made almost like the old Earth Shoes. They weren't Birkenstocks either. I may go to the place my friend found and get a pair of those shoes before the next time I take any sort of trip where I will do any kind of walking. (optimistic thinking today!) > Have never really gotten into games on the net, but always wanted to. You and me both. Most I've done is played a little Euchre online. Lotsa fun!
