Guest guest
I use AVG Antivirus. It's as good as any of the more popular ones if not better: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 I also use Spybot to check and clean my computer from any spyware or malware that isn't caught by most antivirus programs. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html (It asks for a donation but you don't have to.) I also use Ad-aware in conjunction with Spybot for double protection. Some spyware programs will miss some infections that others won't. It's always best to have two. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php For a third layer of protection I use Spyware Guard to help prevent the spyware and malware from being put on my machine in the first place. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html Lastly, a good firewall is very beneficial. Here is a very good one that's free. http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/ All of these programs have been referred to me by professional tech support teams and I trust the programs effectiveness on protecting your computer. I would really appreciate it. We cannot afford those other ones...they surely are getting crazy in price, now. The one seemed to run constantly and slowed our computer down more and was constantly downloading things. --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
One thing I forgot to mention is it's always good to go to Microsoft Updates and make sure you have all the latest security patches on your computer. Also on a side note, make sure you don't end up running two antivirus programs at the same time. This will cause conflicts between the two programs and you may end up not removing anything if it does detect a virus. It is ok to run more than one spyware program though.
