Guest guest
Been lurking for a while, thinking, feeling, observing, myself and others. Looking for those who share my more experiential Jungian perspective. I am pretty right/left brain balanced, hoping to communicate with others who live from that place. Tonight there is a soft, warm breeze off the ocean, here in the Palm Beaches, and I am inspired to write. It has been surprising to me to see on Jung-Fire, such heated topics around politics and personal beliefs, with a focus on the " other " and little or no examination of the projection involved. Is it politically incorrect to comment on this? This is not to say that I do not do the very same thing, in reacting to the political topics, but my goal is to throw a log on the fire and invite you to catch me at it, in the bright light of open conversation. So here goes. With a background in the biological sciences, it seems to me that owning up to being a part of the food chain is less inflated than trying to pull up, and out, of that natural chain of events. Owning the animal in us has its merits. Anyway, for all we know we may not be at the top of the chain, that may be another inflation. Who knows what lurks in other galaxies. Does anyone else react to the judgmental attitude that often accompanies special diets and health regimes. I have been a part of the alternative health community for years as a practitioner and administrator of alternative health centers and I am continually amazed at the pious attitude of many in the field. This feels very " old " to me, rather than " new " age. Only the focus has changed. The righteous are so, well, righteous. And then I must ask myself, why do these folks irritate me? For me, the value around my study of Carl Jung has been in learning how to own the projection. It is a lifetime work, but when I see myself getting irritated with another person or idea, I then ask myself, where is that in me? Long theoretical discussions do not hold my interest nearly as much as the inner experience when I break through my own stuff. I was gifted with a dear and wonderful friend who was an experienced Swiss trained Jungian analyst who taught me much, and served as guide and mentor. The core of her teachings was essentially self knowledge, through body work. I was also influenced by a dear Unity minister, who was well versed in Jung and Progoff journaling techniques. He often quoted Pogo, who said something like, " I have found the enemy, and it is I " . Also loved the quote from Mother , where she replied, when someone asked her how she got to be Mother . She answered that it happened when she realized that she had a Hitler within her. Which leads me to a question regarding the topic of assassination, would it have been a good idea to knock off Hitler in 1939? Love the list, hoping to stir up the fire a bit, and connect with some new friends at a more personal level. I am an astrologer, realtor, mental health/biofeedback/massage therapist and more currently a nursing student. Also mother, grandmother, widow, lover, and friend. Who are you? Love and light, and a bit of shadow too, Kathy Kathy
