Guest guest
Welcome to the seven new members. We are on a roll. Part of me wishes there were no need for a liver cirrhosis support group, but there is. This group is not very fancy as a Yahoo group, but what it does have is a bunch(over 400) of people in all in the same boat- They or someone they love is diagnosed with cirrhosis. Cirrhosis — irreversible damage to liver cells — is the most common reason for liver transplants in adults. It occurs when scar tissue replaces healthy cells and prevents normal liver function. Cirrhosis is also called end stage liver disease (ESLD). The people here are caretakers, patients, and sometimes both. We have brave transplant candidates and survivors. We have several listed for transplant and waiting, and several who have opted for palliative care, or not candidates for a transplant. Newcomers should be informed that most who arrive here do so after receiving minimal, if any useful information from a doctor regarding the truth of the matter regarding cirrhosis. I have heard things like " my husband was told that he cant have a transplant because he drank " , or " they told us that it takes years and years on the waiting list to get a transplant " , or " dont worry, the liver can regenerate itself, you probably dont even need a transplant " . The list goes on. There are some simple facts that can be found here, and it can be a very enlightening and hopeful experience to belong to this group. Most of all, even in the shadow of the worst news you could possibly hear, the people here are like a warm bonfire in the dark forest, you can mosy up to warmth, and have a seat. You are not alone. There are three moderators, Pamela, MaC myself. We have a files library, you can right click and " save as " to any of these, and please feel free to add your name and diagnosis or loved one's diagnosis to our database. It does not include any personal info. There is a photo album, so you can add a picture of your self, and family if you want. Welcome. Love, Bobby long life, old age, everything good-(Apache prayer)
