Guest guest Posted January 8, 2008 Report Share Posted January 8, 2008 My mom is bedridden with end stage liver disease/non alcoholic cirrhosis some of her symptoms are: ascites (belly fluid) edema in legs feet incredible fatigue lack of appetite (due to the ascites she can't eat much, no room) so we have small frequent bites, not meals loss of weight due to not eating much veins spider (face and chest) and blue ones on her belly red palms and feet and dry encephalopathy (I call it crazy days) we give her lactulose so her ammonial levels stay down darkening of the urine (we use diuretics to keep the kidneys flushing) low protein and albumin levels high bilirubin high alk phos other symptoms varices (similar to varicoes veins except in gut and esophagus) nausea vomiting shortness of breath (caused by the ascites pushing up on lungs) kidney issues There are a few I can think of.
