Hi H.R.

Glad you had a good time. I did too. Instead of making the rounds, we have

been holding an " open house " for our friends and neighbours at Christmas for

the last 10 years or so. This year I think we almost nailed the date and

time just right, only 3 showed up, and that was over 2 days ! Next year

we'll bring the time up closer to supper time on Christmas Eve and see if we

can bring that down to zero!

We had a marvelous Christmas, just Carol, and myself. We spared

the cooking part by deciding against a turkey supper on Christmas day. We

had enough munchies laid out in case our " open house " scheme didn't work so

we just munched. We still have enough for a week!

Sounds like you're on a roll in the pain department. Good for you! Maybe

it'll help the " creative juices " and give you more time to write. Who knows,

perhaps we're entering 1999, the H.R. author of the year award winner! I did

a little writing of my own. Years ago, I attended cooking school. To this

day, we old recipe book has been a steady staple in our kitchen. It contains

some recipes and some little known theory on baking, ingredients, leavening

agents and so on. I sat down and typed the whole thing out on the computer,

printed it on nice heavy stock, and presented it to Carol who shows signs of

heading down the same road. The thing is about 1/2 inch thick! No small feat

for a 2 finger typist! Took me 4 days to type! She loved it. Even shed a

tear or two but I'm not sure if it's because of the dedication or because

she thinks I want her to use it! It was a Kodak moment!

I'll probably be a little quiet the next 2 weeks or so. I've got some

thinking to do and some projects to finish. I was " summoned " to the Doc's

office on the 23rd for some test results and I didn't like what I heard. I

have to return for more test in 2 weeks but it doesn't look promising so I

need to put my affairs in order.

I'll take advantage of this email to wish one and all a very happy new year.

May we all get more pain-free moments in this, the last year of the old

millenium (depending how you choose to count).

Mike
