Guest guest
Hello Emmett, when you say your pts took the antibiotics as well as herbs for lyme....were these IV's or oral, and how long for (all the conventional stuff on lyme, esp chronic lyme, talks about one to two months IV, followed by about 18months high dose orals, and combination orals...were they having this?) for anyone else interested, there is a good piece on lyme on sarah myhill (gp) website, under fatigue, then under lyme. Its made me revisit at least three chronic fatigue pt histories, and i strongly suspect they actually have lyme (borreliosis). best wishes ,
Guest guest
Dear , A/B's were oral. Only muscle and joint sx were evident . All I can say re orthodox treatment is what on says . It is a very authorative medical book , and is at the level for hospital consultants . This is the exact quote from on re treatment of Lymes . " the various manifistations of Lymes can usually be treated successfully with orally administered antibiotics ; the acceptions are objective neurological abnormalities and third-degree atrioventricular heart block, which seem to require intravenous therapy . " . He then goes into the various ab options , which your doctor will have , taking account of possible pregnancy etc . The treatment protocol of on for Lymes disease is as follows ; SKIN:::: Sx,,, erythema migrans , Acrodermatitis Treatment ,,,,,,,, Oral ab for 20 days JOINT: Sx Arthritis , Treatment Oral a/b for 30- 60 days HEART:::: Sx 1st , 2nd degree heart block Tr same Sx 3rd degree heart block Tr IV a/bs , for 30 days , followed by oral therapy when pt is out of high-degree AV block NERVOUS SYSTEM::::::: Sx:: Meningitis , Radiculoneuritis , Encephalopathy , Polyneuropathy , Facial Palsy Tr IV a/bs , for 30 days NOTES Early disseminated infection requires a/bs for 30 days Pts should respond to a/bs within 24 hrs . If no improovement evident , which is rare , steroids are considered short term , especially for 3rd d hrt blk . Concluding Remarks :::: Since ur sx seem to be on the low end of the scale for Lymes , the standard therapy above would apply , coupled with the herbs . A note on herbal use for the extended period required for Lymes ; most of the herbs I have listed are all vata herbs in Ayurvedic medicine , and while these specific herbs are needed for their powerful anti-infective effect , they can disturb a person's vata balance , which in itself can cause problems if not addressed in the treatment plan . Countering vata disturbance requires a full case history session , withsubsequent adaptations to diet , exercise , lifestyle changes that sooth vata , incorporation of herbs in the formula to deal with vata disturbance , and possibly the use of other therapies that may be appropriate to each case. Decisions on these matters requires an ongoing assessment by an Ayurvedic practitioner. I would suggest that if there is one nearby you , that u see them . I have been trained in the fundamentals of Ayurveda , and use it as my template with all pts , but it is best if u have someone u can see and make the judgement calls that are necessary . In your case , I would say to use the oral abs with the herbs , and I would be very confident that u will be ok . You may have some lingering effects of cfs once the initial Lymes treatment is over , ie 3-6 months . Again , because u have shown ns Sx , I would advise herbs for 6 months , and the abs orally for 3-6 wks , to be discussed with your medical doctor , to maintain the objectivity bit in ur case , as we are very bad judges of how to treat ourselves . I have no problem if u want to show ur gp my e-mails on ur case. Also if u wish I can input into the Ayurveda balance end of things . Hope this helps , Do Chara , Emmett Walsh re: lyme again, emmett > Hello > Emmett, when you say your pts took the antibiotics as well as herbs for > lyme....were these IV's or oral, and how long for (all the conventional > stuff on lyme, esp chronic lyme, talks about one to two months IV, > followed by about 18months high dose orals, and combination orals...were > they having this?) > for anyone else interested, there is a good piece on lyme on sarah myhill > (gp) website, under fatigue, then under lyme.
