News of an empowerment for the tribes takes me back forty years ago to the

Gathering of the Tribes for the Summer of Love in the hippy days of

Haight-Ashbury and the Panhandle area of Golden Gate Park. Ironically, that

was also the Golden Age of training, the period just before steroids and

the culture of lies and deceipt reared its ugly head in the Irongame. I'm

hopeful that your down to earth approach to training and the metaphor

guiding your work will restore some of the spirit of that mid 60s Geist to

our sport.

I grew up in San Francisco in the late 60s. Many Bay Area throwers, lifters,

and football players used steroids in 68 and 69 (The Summer of Love). A more

appropriate era for pre-drug sports was the time of " skinny Elvis, " the

Lettermen, and Ozzie and Harriet.
