Guest guest
Dear all, a couple of questions about two different patients. Firstly an elderly lady (age 91) with very bad post herpetic neuralgia, She had shingles 5 years ago, has tried all conventional painkillers and acupuncture to no avail. Has anyone any experince of treating this? she is pretty well otherwise (mild hypertension), but the pain is stopping her sleeping. Second patient is a 52 year ol woman , I have been treating for 11 months for very bad PMT/ perimenopausal changes.Sx included hot flushes, emotional swings, headaches, poor sleep, confusion, waking in the nigh feverish, sick, and dizzy, bloating, constipation. All symptoms worse in 2 weeks before period. she has responded very well to the herbs, I used tarax rad, milk thistle, verbena, black cohosh, st. john's wort, vitex and licorice, with a tea of motherwort, red clover, dandelion leaf and sage and a sleep mix. I have changed the herbs around slightly as things come up but she has done very well, and is feeling much better. Constitutionally she tends to be quite hot and leads a high stress lifestyle, but she is very careful with diet and takes regular exercise and yoga. On the last follow up however her period was 2 weeks late and she had very bad breast tenderness and swelling, which she has never had before. I am wondering if the hormonal herbs could cause this ,or could it be all perimenopausal Sx. I was wondering if Vitex could cause this picture,? dose related? but then I know it is used to treat this too I am very confused ? Any ideas greatly received Sally Moorcroft > > > > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN Search Toolbar now includes Desktop search! http://toolbar.msn.co.uk/
Guest guest
Hi Sally, I've had success with post herpetic neuralgia using infused St. 's Wort oil with peppermint essential oil in it. Internally I've used Avena, Hypericum and Gelsemium, but the immediate relief has come from the external application of the oils. all the best, Isobel shingles / breast tenderness > Dear all, > a couple of questions about two different patients. > Firstly an elderly lady (age 91) with very bad post herpetic neuralgia, > She > had shingles 5 years ago, has tried all conventional painkillers and > acupuncture to no avail. Guest guest
Hi Sue, I've used it with a couple of patients, and how much peppermint needed varied - I started with 10 drops in 100ml SJW oil, and added up to 10 more if needed.... all the best, Isobel shingles / breast tenderness >> >> >> > Dear all, >> > a couple of questions about two different patients. >> > Firstly an elderly lady (age 91) with very bad post herpetic neuralgia, >> > She >> > had shingles 5 years ago, has tried all conventional painkillers and >> > acupuncture to no avail.
