Guest guest
Dear listmembers, Here is my reply to a very excited and unpolite member (please see at the bottom of the message. As we say in French, his message " vaut son pesant d'or " :-)). Don't worry, the list has been freed more than 13 hours ago. Thank you for your attention. " Dear Member, I have not to apologize to other members. Yes, I am the Moderator, which mainly means that 1) I am the person legally liable for the list activity , and 2) for the strict respect of the list rules (see the FAQs). About the FAQs, please, let me remind you the 3rd item (here is a full copy of it) : " 3) CONTENT OF THE MESSAGES SENT TO THE LIST: The messages must be sent in plain text format (HTML excluded). No attachment allowed. The main purpose of the Medical_Translation mailing-list is to ask to your colleagues questions about medical terminology, in any language. But you can also post queries about other problems, if related to our profession. For instance : questions about software, available dictionaries, etc. For questions about *clients* and *jobs*, please see below. Of course, the content of the messages must be polite and respectful. Slang, insults, and political, religious, etc. disputes or allusions, insinuations or suggestion are strictly forbidden. Any member violating this rule will be definitively excluded from the list. " If I have decided to block the list - except for jobs and terminology postings - it's because I've been moderating this list for more than 6 years, successfully avoiding any " clash " between strong personalities. Sometimes, I have been obliged to ban briefly one of our dear members who does love provocation, and who entered in the debate these last days. I'm pretty sure that s/he will recognize him/herself :-))), as all of us will do :-))) From the moment when more than one member claimed to feel insulted, there was no other way to save the list thant to block it! Nothing else to add on this matter. As for my name, Yes it has been misused. Nothing to add! For most of us, the issue is crystal-clear. That's a pity, as it is in violation of the most basic rules of the Netiquette. To answer your aggressive mail : I won't ban you, it would be too easy for you :-))) (Not sure that this literal translation from French will be understood). FOR INFO : THE LIST HAS BEEN FREED 13 HOURS AGO ! :-)) GUILLIAUMET - France Clinical Medicine & Pharmacology - EN,SP,PT>>FR +33 (0)4 75 88 01 87 Moderator of the Medical_Translation mailing-list for professionals http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/medical_translation/ Creator of the " Medical Translators Database© " , the most reliable assistant to find the ideal Medical Translator at http://cgtradmed-com.ifrance.com/cgtradmed-com/MedicalTranslators.htm Moderator Hi . Have you read your emails? The Moderator, My List, MY NAME! I really think you've lost the plot -you're a Yahoo list moderator for heaven's sake - not a school prefect. I suggest you adopt a more adult attitude to group moderation or give it up because that kind of attitude is wholly inappropriate when dealing with other professionals. Feel free to block me or remove me from the list by the way if you can't hack the criticism. My advice would be to apologise to all users for your outburst, allow criticism (even of yourself), frank and forthright discussion - although not abusive content - and allow the list to run itself.
