Guest guest
Hi Judy, Here are a couple of links I found. I'm sure others will post something more beneficial. I hope your doctors can treat the problem and get you feeling better. http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/blood_gases/test.html http://www.questdiagnostics.com/kbase/topic/medtest/hw2343/results.htm http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003855.htm MaC P.S., I found this link looking for your answer. It's not specificially for the blood gases test but it lists all the different lab tests doctors do. http://www.questdiagnostics.com/healthwise/files/blood_chemistry.pdf jkost1959 wrote: Good morning everyone, It is time to ask for some help so I am posting on a couple of boards to see if I can find the answers, this is something I don't see a lot of on these boards, yet it has a lot to do with the problems caused by varices. Everyone is always so helpful, sending links, encouragement and support. So here is my dilemna: yesterday I had a completely different kind of test done due to the fact that I am becoming so shoort of breathe walking from the parking lot to the door leaves me out of breathe. I had a Blood oxygen test done....one with room air and one at 100% oxygen. The results printed out on a little like receipt size piece of paper with a ton of numbers that I do not understand. Does anyone know of a link that can explain this test and the results? Thanks for your help, Judy --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Guest guest
OMG. Judy. I had this test done. It is for hepatopulmonary syndrome. I tested positive for this but it is still mild. It might cause you to get further MELD exception points if it is positive, and severe. I have an excellent powerpoint I can send you, but you need to let me know if it is ok to do so. Here is a link- http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec05/ch058/ch058c.html http://www.annals.org/cgi/content/full/122/7/521 My hepatologist told me that most people with cirrhosis will have some pulmonary shunting, but it becomes severe enough to be called HPS when you sit with 100% oxygen for 20 min, and your arterial blood gas is in the 300 range instead of 500. I have to find the exact number for you.(and me) Needing some resources Good morning everyone, It is time to ask for some help so I am posting on a couple of boards to see if I can find the answers, this is something I don't see a lot of on these boards, yet it has a lot to do with the problems caused by varices.
