Guest guest
My stools change color drastically depending on what I eat. Imagine my surprise when I glanced in the toilet about 8 hours after eating a bowl of Trix. I did a doubletake! On the other hand, consistently pale stools are a sign of liver disease. Keep an eye on them and if it persists, be sure to let your doctor know. Colleen cruzpuppies wrote: Hi all. Just a quick question. All along I have had constipation. I am on lactalose. Haven't changed my diet and all of a sudden my stools are looking pale. The Dr's kept asking if they were and they haven't been until now. I know they are a common symptom but I also read somewhere what brings the change of color on. I figured someone in this group would know. Thanks, Stay warm and dry! Guest guest
Hi . I hope you are hanging in there, and getting on that list. I think that a lack of bile can be a cause of stools being pale. This is one thing that clued me in to the fact that I was sick, besides the pain back in June 06. My stools were bright yellow to clay colered. I looked it up, and it said many places that bile colors stools to be brown, but a lack of it makes tham clay. Mine were flourescent yellow to black?green. Sorry everyone. Sorry . pale stools , what do they mean? Hi all. Just a quick question. All along I have had constipation. I am on lactalose. Haven't changed my diet and all of a sudden my stools are looking pale. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, I am not new here although you probably wouldn't know that as I have been reading but not posting to much lately. I am pre-transplant and I am the virtual pincushion as they say. I have my own army of Dr's so they are aware... I just thought I saw someone post a link.....*who could that be???* LOL that explained what changes in the body to change the color. I was wondering if I am getting worse...Or is it a sign of rising ammonia levels...stuff like that. Sorry I haven't said hello....but *hi* and welcome! > Hi all. Just a quick question. Guest guest
Hi , This sounds gross, but I do keep an eye on the color of my stools and try to correlate them with what I've eaten. Sometimes I'm stumped, but then finally I remember oh yeah, I ate this. Mine have never been persistently pale or chalk colored though (except after the barium swallow I once had). How far up are you on the transplant list? Colleen cruzpuppies wrote: Hi Colleen, I am not new here although you probably wouldn't know that as I have been reading but not posting to much lately. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, As you can see from my last post, I am not on the list yet. My MELD has been holding at around 26-27 for the few months. And with my blood type and frame they said they don't think it will be to long once I am listed before they find a liver for me. I keep a blog if you are interested. It is a great way for me to journal and also share with friends and family what has been going on. I have been remiss in posting of late but will catch it up tonight or tomorrow. The address is www.reallife- withus.blogspot.com if you are interested.
