Guest guest
Good morning, Carolyn, Good news here. There is hope! While Angelina broke, chewed, or hid 8 pairs of glasses in the first year, she would not go a day without them now. Angelina gets up in the morning and reaches for her glasses. She wears them all day until naptime or bedtime. She carefully places them underneath a tissue box in her headboard when it is time to sleep. She has been doing this since age 3. The only reason that I am looking at Specs4Us(.com) is that they are specifically made for our children's special facial features and will tend to not slide down their nose or be too long for the side of their cheeks to their ears. If you have not heard of them, check them out. I discovered them at the NDSC Conference in Boston in July. Guest guest
has had glasses since about 16 months - at first would not wear them at all then only for preschool. By about 2 1/2 he wore them all the time and now that is one of the first things in the morning and last things at night. It should get better! T. mom to , age 11 Ds Uh-Oh! I was hoping that as our kids got older, they'd actually keep their glasses ON! Olivia, at age 3, has a strong aversion to her glasses! Carolyn -- *[DownSyndromeInfoE xchange] Re: Now: bifocals Was:Politics. ..off topic Ditto! Whoever said that I got used to them? I just sit 18 " away from my computer screen and tilt my head as I look down my nose at the posts. Seriously, my 9.5 year old showed me how to tilt the monitor so that I would not have to get a crick in my head from tilting. <g> Old people and computers! I had two pairs of glasses, added bifocals because my arms were not long enough to read the paper anymore, kept my single vision sunglasses for 3 years but finally broke down this past summer and got bifocal sunglasses so I could read on the beach. I could not even read the radio dials in the car. Can't you see me stopped for speeding telling the officer that I cannot see how fast I was going due to the fuzzy vision caused by my bifocals? That would be an interesting ticket! Who'd have thought that 47 was old, for crying out loud?! Angelina has had her bifocals since she was 2 and a half and adjusted to them within 24 hours. Never tripped over her feet once. She just kept taking them off for the first year until she realized she could see things better. She thought they were a toy. We are seriously looking into the Specs4us frames for her so that she will stop perching them on the end of her nose like a little granny and looking over them. She has that charming schoolmarm look going for her. , mom to Angelina (6 yrs, Ds), pro-life and voting for the McCain/Palin ticket without reservation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~ In DownSyndromeInfoExc hange@yahoogroup s.com, " ~ Romero~ " <noliptoday@ ...> wrote: I hate bifocals!
