Guest guest
: 1. There are at least 8 studies on Styrene exposure causing color or contrast sensitivity issues. Gobba and Cavalleri,1993 Campagna 1995 Eguchi 1995 Mergler at al., 1996 Gobba and Cavalleri, 2000 Kishi et al, 2001 Triebig et al, 2001 Castillo et al., 2001 Evidence indicates that loss will occur below the OSHA PEL. 2. There are 3 studies on 5 different groups for perc. Cavalleri et al, 1994 Schreiber et al. 2002 Gobba et al, 1998 3. In essence, there are studies on: Mixed solvent exposures Carbon disulfide Perchloroethylene Styrene Toluene Trichloroethylene 1,2-dichlorobenzene Methyl mercury Acrylamides Chloropyrifos (marginal at best) Carbon Monoxide (negative) n-Hexane 2-t-Butylazo-2-hydroxy-5-methylxane Metals (Pb,Zn,Mn) 3. There are confounding factors to consider: Clinical Retinopathies Diabetic retinopathy Age-related macular degeneration Parkinson's Disease Multiple Sclerosis 4. There is data that suggests reversibility of effects: B. Lomax, et al.: Does Occupational Exposure to Organic Solvents Affect Colour Discrimination? Toxicological Reviews 23, 2, 91-121, 2004. 5. Guest guest
Tony, With these studies about styrene exposure would that make use of foam insulation problematic. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't styrene a component in most foam insulations? I'm asking as we are considering it's use for our home. Thanks, Sam Tony Havics wrote:1.
