Guest guest
My son was physically abused by his reading tutor last year. Nothing happened when I complained --of course, they acted like I was a liar. My son went to private counseling for therapy to deal with the abuse. This year, his special ed teacher slaps his chair to startle him and calls him "slowpoke". The principal will walk up behind my 7 year old child and yell BOO --then calls him a baby for crying and being afraid. Who do you complain to when there aren't any witnesses besides your child? Subject: TX - Please let me know what ISD's have Time out rooms, are using Illegal restraint, abuse.. specifically the actual school...please report thisTo: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Date: Saturday, December 6, 2008, 10:30 AM It is very troubling to receive the amount of email I have latelyregarding the Illegal use of restraint, abuse, Time Out Rooms, and evenworse in the investigation into the ISD's in TX. If your schooldistrict uses Time Out rooms at all, or uses restraint withoutBehavioral Intervention Plansk, or if you know of or have heard of abuseof our children in your district please post a response or if it is toopersonal please email me directly. This type of prehistoric activitymust come to an end. In drafting legislation to put before ourPresident Elect right after he comes into office I would really like tohave the most Input I can get regarding these types of things. Thepromise made will be kept if it's the last thing I do on this earth Iwill make sure of it !! I have faith in God that we shall be led into anew beginning that will bring about much change in our EducationalClimate. In order for this to happen we must overload the newAdministration with as much parental input as possible. I will beblocking out names of children/parents but will not block out the schooldistricts involved so please try to be as specific as possible. Themore responses I get to this the better... if you want to see thepromise we were given kept.. please speak up about the wrongs you knowof and specifically where those wrongs are. No responses will be usedfor anything other then this unless you request help in your situation.I personally could care less who loves or hates me (other then God), asour children matter the most. Many times we as parents feel intimidatedand do not speak up when we know we can give information that may helpthe next child in line. I know it's hard to handle the situation youmay be in now.. but please consider the next parent that may not have toendure what you have had to.Even if it is not with your child, please respond. Thank you all foryour input it is very much appreciated. Guest guest
We had a possible abuse case when my son was in elementary school. The school did not admit it happpened there so we called Child Protective Services for them to investigate. You can not expect the school to admit to anything, seriously. This does need to go further beyond the school. I would call CPS and file a complaint and let them check it out. We ended up homeschooling since we knew the abuse happened at school and were afraid to send him back. Guest guest
Thank you for your input. I am now looking to get as much input as possible regarding changes that need to be made under the Autism Reform Act of 2009 which you can read the initial 'points' under it and please email me offlist if possible as I'm very swamped.. You can go to http://www.change. org/ideas/ view/accept_ and_sign_ the_autism_reform_act_ of_2009 and register and vote for it..many parents are posting this all over the net in diff. venues. We will present this to Obama in Late Jan. after the 'Gala' .. please give your input on what can be added to this request for Act..and please have all you know go there and register on the site (basically your email address) and then vote for the Act.. you have to click on the number of votes and it will say 'voted' under it when you have done so.... it's somewhat complicated. Please give your input to the above yahoo email address. Thank you and I very much appreciate the listmemeber that have shared their stories and have shared their input...and have voted.. out of an estimate 560,00 children still in school.. we've only been able to muster up about 400 plus votes..which still will put us in the final round on Jan. 1 if we get about 60 more and if we still get votes to trickle in..so use your myspcacek, Facebook, auto email sig.. whatever..and let this be known.. AWARENESS is what it is always about because once the leaders of our country are aware.. Change will occur.. especially with this request for ACT.. when the final draft is done we'll put it up online and have an e'signature available.. I am already in touch with the transition team and have all info/contact #'s... Now we just need to get to D.C. . ... " All I want for Christmas is for the ACT to Pass " ...new song !! Take Care and Thank you, E. , Sr. The office of Advocacy for Autistic Children PS... I'll be passing on this info to your US Sen. ..start at the top and work up from the bottom at the same time.. my motto > > > Subject: TX - Please let me know what ISD's have Time out rooms, are using Illegal restraint, abuse.. specifically the actual school...please report this > To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy > Date: Saturday, December 6, 2008, 10:30 AM > > > > > > > > It is very troubling to receive the amount of email I have lately > regarding the Illegal use of restraint, abuse, Time Out Rooms, and even > worse in the investigation into the ISD's in TX.
