That is a great idea.  I have something similar for my daughter.  On her car

seat i have her medical info, what she has, her meds and all that good stuff in

case something were to happen while we were driving.  for my duaghter i also

have a notebook that i created that has all her docs names, her surgeries, her

illness, meds, papers about her condition(since it is rare) copies of her

insurance cards and all her personal info and medical stuff.  My mom had to keep

her for a week when i went away a couple of years ago and that thing came in

handy because my mom had to take her to ER for seizures, the saff was really

impressed with it.  I also write a  consent for my mom to make medical choices

for her when she keeps her even overnight. I have started a notebook for me too

with my docs names and the test they have run and all that good stuff, so i just

hand it to the docs and they can make a copy so i dont have to repeat myself

every 5

minutes--lol. I have a site about my daughter in case anyone wants to read

about her --i need to update it really bad---maybe this weekend i can get to

it.  her site is www.caringbridge.org/de/rhianna

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and a good black friday--I am pooped out

from cooking all day yesterday and then shopping with my sister all day today.

I was quite impressed with this, as I would like to have my husband

have something in his wallet that would tell more about his

medical information and that isn't thick or take up alot of room.

This is great! You can print it out on just a piece of paper and

fold it to be placed in your wallet. You can also make other

types of information to carry around for other things also, like

a shopping list, etc.

It is called the Pocket mod.

To Use this flash program, you have to double click on the

kind of page you want on the left hand side. It should then

come up in the center of the page and show you an example you

can see up close.

(1) If you look up in the right hand corner...

you may see an emblem there. If there is one, you can click

on that and add your information into the page. When you click

close at the bottom..it will return to the example and show

your information already there.

(2)Then all you have to do is click on it and hold your button down

and move it to the place you want that page to appear.

(3) When you are all done...you can print it out. They tell you how

to fold it up also.

This ends up being about the size of wallet size picture, yet, it

has all the information there that you added. It is very thin like

a piece of paper you folded up and placed there.

Here is what I used there for my husband's wallet card:

You get to choose from a number of different pages to add to

this sheet...a total of eight, I believe.

(1) I chose the introductory where you place your name, address, etc.

(2)Then in the Misc section here: I chose the emergency contact.

(3)After that I chose the list where you can type in information.

I added my husbands medication there and how he took them (

since on one of the pages it said to add them there, but the

would not all fit.

(4)Then again I chose the list again and added information there on

how to use his insulin.

(5) Then I chose the personal contact area, you cannot add that

information, but I decided to use this for writing his doctors, their

addresses on them. I used 3 pages of this up in my little Pocket mod.

(6) Then I added the 2009 calendar for the last page.

I hope you like this little flash site. However, use at

your own risk.

Yeah. It is important to try and imaging a sceneraio where you need to go to the

hospital. I got a bracelet with " hepatic encephalopathy " and " severe iodine

allergy " . It makes me feel so much safer. Love, B

Tammy, I am so glad you had a good Thanksgiving and got to get in on all the

bargains!  I know you're worn out and I hope you get some much needed rest.

I also have a Healthcare Notebook for my husband.  It has been an invaluable

tool.  Every time we interact with medical personnel, they are so thankful and

so impressed with it.  I started it with my Mom when she was dying with renal

failure.  At the hospital we use, they asked for permission to use my setup in

teaching some classes they offer in their cardiac, cancer and respiratory

recovery programs.  It has helped us out so many times when I wouldn't have

otherwise been prepared for ER visits or hospital admissions, or even office

visits.  I keep notes on everything, just as if I were charting for an inpatient

situation.

Get some rest and enjoy your evening.

Hugs............Diane

Wow, that's a nice, fancy bracelet. I have the regular ordinary kind

that I got after my transplant. It has the transplant hospital's

name, phone number, and " immunosuppressed " on it. The National

Kidney Foundation makes them for people who have transplants for

free. I have seen the ordinary medical bracelet on sale at my local

clinic in the pharmacy too.

Wow, that's a nice, fancy bracelet. I have the regular ordinary kind

that I got after my transplant. It has the transplant hospital's

name, phone number, and " immunosuppressed " on it. The National

Kidney Foundation makes them for people who have transplants for

free. I have seen the ordinary medical bracelet on sale at my local

clinic in the pharmacy too.

, mine has six lines, and it fits just fine, on the back. The front has a

really nice medical symbol and my name.

On the back it says,

1-my name,

2-my birthdate

3-iv iodine contrast allergy

4-hepatic encephalopathy

5-ICE Sharon Aragon(in case of emergency)

6-Sharon's phone number

So I am in the same club. I think every opne should have an ICE name and number

in their cell phone. Paramedics are trained to look for ICE now days. In Case

of Emergency.
