Guest guest
I m very ignorant about this subject. My oldest son wears glasses, and my youngest my need too With overspending about every 3 months my son decides to get angry and break his glasses is very$$$$$$$$$$$$$, also I talked to an OT that recommended for us to go and test him on this , cause it may have to do with mitchondrial disease and not far eye sight, since he seems to do better this year than last year at our regular opthalmologist.. so we don not get it. Back to subject anyone in Texas know about this?? any info or advice? Also do you know anyone in Tx that you will recommend to go get my boy's tested? I found some info here http://www.mitoaction.org/taxonomy/term/
Guest guest
Try to get an appt with Dr. Frye at UT in Houston. He is very aware of our kids and mito issues. Also, try taking your son to a behavioral optomotrist. My son needed special prisms in his glasses because his eyes do not work well together. The prisms help to focus. They have therapy to help, but it is not covered by insurance. I am trying to figure out how to pay for it. We also went thru several pairs of glasses destroyed in fits of rage - so I know how you feel. The lenses are a little more expensive than regular, but I really think they help because now he actually wants to wear them to see. As far as mitigating the expense, I think it is Eyemasters that usually has a deal " 2 pair for $99 " going on. It will be a little more than that due to the lenses and they can't make them in a hour ( usually next day). C.
