Guest guest
The video is best thing. They should do an EEG but they often show nothing unless one is actually happening at the time. You may need telemetry which is putting on EEG stuff for maybe 24 hours, in hospital, and then doing long scans and video pictures. Even this showed nothing for a friend's child. A sleep EEG is good too. Guest guest
Our boy had these (similar) prior to age 3 and a half and up to age 4. None so far since then, that i know of. We thought it was something we could do anything about, especiallly considering what the alternative was, according to our idiot paed who wanted eeg's etc (my boy would NEVER have stood for this) followed by potential drugs!!!! I think there was something going on with the development of his brain but have no idea what it was, too much input? too much output? I will never know, just glad they stopped. what they looked like: he would be running round, then suddenly stop, stare out the window or the wall and no amount of calling him would make him respond. I even did the hands in front of his face trick, and that did not work, no eye movement, nothing. I vaguely remember doing this when I was a child, in fact I dropped to the floor once when i was about six, i never knew why. but i am ok now. I dont know, what i read is that so many children have these " episodes " and there is no guarantee that an eeg or any other test is going to help/pick them up and then even if they do, what is the course of action?? > > A question to parents of kids with absent seizures or not if they > have the same as my boy. > > Just before 3yrs old my son started to ...go into a catertonic freeze > for a few seconds. Guest guest
I agree with Sally an EEG might be a good idea and probably to get one done quite soon. My son had a sleep induced EEG mainly to check for Llandau Kleffner which is a condition quite similar to Autism. Usually the absent seizures happen during sleeping with this condition. I think that any seizures are worth checking out with the docs anyway.
