There is something else I used for teething...use to be able to get it years

ago, but today it requires a prescription from a doctor (and you have to

practically beg for it). It's called " Paragoric " and you rub it on their

gums with a Q-tip. I call it " liquid gold " because it's works instantly and

you don't want to ever spill a drop...keep every bit of it to use...because

it works GREAT. It has opium in it, so that's why it's so hard to get. But

if you ask your parents or grandparents, you'll find that's what they used

years ago. Also, you'll find some parents use to rub (liquor) on

their child's gums.

Hi there, I'm " new " to the list so I was going to lurk to get the feel of the

group before posting But!! What a " blast " from the past ... that was one of

the drugs that was kept stocked here when we (4 girls) were growing up. Ear

aches and migraines were rampant here but a 1/2 to 1 tsp of Paragoric and

" all was well again " . I remember the " bitter " taste and about the only thing

that kept us from " fighting " it was how " weak " we were with the migraines and

how fast the paragoric worked. I guess I was to too young to ask " what's in

it " <wee smirk> .. opium ??? humm imagine that. <G>
