Guest guest
What a wonderful thing that our spirit can still be consumed with tinsel when so much else is going on around us! We are indeed amzing creations of Almighty God!!!! BTW Barby, just my vote here, but NO TINSEL! I like letting the ornaments tell their own story! Guest guest
I'm with Diane, Barby....no tinsel. But our tree is a memory tree too....I love putting them on: the ones from mine and Ed's childhood trees, the ones our children made, the ones we painted our first Christmas together because that was all we could afford! I love to sit and look at all the ornaments without tinsel to block my view! LOL Love,Jill We don't remember days, we remember moments. Guest guest
I am hoping to just have a tree. It has been stored in the storage shed for quite a few years now. Ed refuses to take it out because he says there are too many other things in the way. We don't have room for it in the house, but I am going to get my grandson and Ed's grandson when he comes to visit next week to get it out of storage, and we will put it up outside. Don't know if I will put any ornaments on it (only have red balls) and of course there will be no tinsel, but we do have hundreds of lights. I have some ornaments I made when my kids were still home, macramed around metal rings in different Christmas colors, put red felt on the back and then put different symbols related to the manger scene in each circle. Really not usable any more because as they were moved around in moves, etc they got to look rather matted. But it is still nice to have them. If I had room for a tree inside, I could put them in the back where I used to put the ornaments the kids had made in school that they wouldn't let me put in front when they got older <SL> Jan H On Thu, Dec 4, 2008 at 10:58 AM, Jill wrote: > I'm with Diane, Barby....no tinsel. Guest guest
Hi Barby, Well you know it is a big deal--hahahha! I love this time of year. My house is done except for the tree--waiting on my step dad to take my boys to cut it down--they already tagged it. I dont do the tinsel cause my boys think it is funny to take it back off and use it for hair--what a mess--lol. But you could always just use 2 and a half boxes of the 5 you have--lol. That sounds like a solution to me-lol. i am sure it will be beautiful no matter what you decide! Guest guest
Baah! I have to have tinsel... It gives the whole tree a sparkley magic. But the truth is that I don't even put one up. We go away for the holiday and usually that is where the money gets spent. Would love one though. Guest guest
me too diane, i call it my hodge podge memory tree, i have ornaments from my kids ,family friends, patients, and of course every year bobby and i pick i new one together, i love my ornaments, they are a reflection of our lives, i did decide on no tinsel it does take away from the goodies on the tree. i did how ever decide to stick some poinsettas in here and there and it is beautiful i just love it, i am very proud of my tree this year, i so have enjoyed decking the halls this year.i had forgotten how it felt to just falalalala, and realize how i missed it.my sister does a very pretty modern tree and its nice but i need my ornaments they make me smile with each one i unwrap and i go back in time to where and when we got it. i cried over a few of them but they were happy tears this year and that feels good to cry happy tears instead of the gut wrenching ugly cry i have done for several years.i thank god that phase is over and praise him for holding me up till i reached acceptance.god is good my friend ,much love barby > > What a wonderful thing that our spirit can still be consumed with tinsel when so much else is going on around us! Guest guest
Jan, I hope you get to have your tree. I think it is so sweet that you have the macrame ornaments that you made so long ago. Terry loves the whole decorated for Christmas thing. When he was able, we always did all that together. I miss that so much and so does he. Every year, he gets sentimental now and usually starts to cry when I start getting everything up because he can't help any more. I try to set him up so he can test the lights for me and hand me ornaments so he can make sure they have hangers on them before I get them in my hand. I also ask his advice frequently about where to place the ornaments. At least he still feels like he's helping. ________________________________ To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Thursday, December 4, 2008 12:12:28 PM Subject: Re: off topic I am hoping to just have a tree. Guest guest
I'm not even in the mood for a tree this Christmas. I am looking forward to the holidays beings over. I try to set him up so he can test the lights for me and hand me ornaments so he can make sure they have hangers on them before I get them in my hand. Guest guest
, I don't feel as if I have appropriately expressed by sympathy for th loss of your son. I cannot imagine anything more devastating than losing your child. I am so thankful you had those early years to make memories with him. Those memories will now last you a lifetime. I know that's not the way you planned it or wanted it and I am so sorry you have to now accept it. Grief is an odd thing. It is individual for each of us as we are individuals. What may take me years to overcome may take someone else only months. It doesn't mean I did right and they did it wrong, or visa versa. It just means that we each did it the way that worked for us. If you ever feel that you can put your tree up again, I hope it brings you much joy as you rehearse again those sweet memories of your son and his childhood. I'm so happy that you and your hubby are going away right after Christmas. I pray you will have a wonderful trip and that he will be as well as is humanly possible and your trip will bring you both great joy. I will praying for your safety and his health. The two of you are always in my prayers. Love and hugs............ Guest guest
My Dear Diane my friend: I really wanted to resend the post after i sent it...I do not want sympathy i just get so perplexed as to why the tree has been such a dumping place for my grief...yes you have extended more then you can ever know to me just by being here for me and the rest of us...i can not convey what i feel for you and the rest of this group words escape me....for each of us carry a cross and we do it to the best of our abilities in ways we can only know how. i truly wish there was a way for me to help you carry your cross but as such we are limited as to what we can truly offer. Christmas and holidays are always hard on those who grieve..and holidays can be hard on those who's lives are filled with sickness and pain. I really try to keep it simple with Jesus as the focus not public pressures to perform at least that is what i try to do... Thank you for your kind words Love in Christ your friend sandra ________________________________ To: livercirrhosissupport Sent: Friday, December 5, 2008 10:24:45 AM Subject: Re: off topic , I don't feel as if I have appropriately expressed by sympathy for th loss of your son.. Any way i am going to Florida with my sweetheart after Christmas as soon as i get off work....actually as i exit the hospital i am jumping in the car and heading out of town...Happy ____________ _________ _________ __ From: sandra <sgonz48yahoo (DOT) com> To: livercirrhosissuppo rtyahoogroups (DOT) com Sent: Friday, December 5, 2008 5:07:11 AM Subject: Re: off topic and may i say " You look marvelous and sound marvelous " ____________ _________ _________ __ From: pinkmeetsblue <itsabnbthing@ bellsouth. net> To: livercirrhosissuppo rtyahoogroups (DOT) com Sent: Thursday, December 4, 2008 7:52:00 PM Subject: Re: off topic hey sandi girl, i hope you can convince yourself too honey, this is the first yr. since 04 that i have enjoyed it,heck even participated in it outside of taking pics. of poppy and the babies putting it up.i will be routing for ya girl,i wish you well and send you hugs ,much love barby > > > > From: diane chandler <dianechandler@ att.net <dianechandler% 40att.net> > > > Subject: Re: off topic > > To: livercirrhosissuppo rtyahoogroups (DOT) com<livercirrhosiss upp ort%40yahoogroup s.com> > > Date: Thursday, December 4, 2008, 11:12 AM > > > > What a wonderful thing that our spirit can still be consumed with tinsel > > when so much else is going on around us!
