Guest guest
Some suggestions would be: Test for gluten and casein intolerance. My son has difficulty with both, gluten makes him foggy and upsets him besides giving him seizures. I credit the GFCF diet for helping him with a lot of his progress, we started at age 5, he is now 21 yrs old. Another therapy that helps with anxiety and depression would be QEEG Neurofeedback. We started doing Neurofeedback around the same age your son is now. We did it because he was getting anxious and angry, and like you, we were looking for drug alternatives. We ended up doing 70+ sessions, and they were very helpful. There are also some supplements that are helpful with calming: Taurine GABA 5-HTP L-Theanine Lithium Orotate Not all work for everyone, it's important to start one supplement at a time and give a couple of days to judge the results, an alternative doctor or naturopath can help you figure out supplements and doses. Chiropractic and acupuncture therapy can also help in adjusting the body to help the nervous system function better. I hope you find a non-drug alternative that helps your child as antipsychotic, antidepressant drugs have many serious and dangerous side effects. > > Hi all, > > We are looking for information on how to help our son. Guest guest
, you are close to Care Clinics. You may find it helpful just to get a blood draw, urine/stool analysis. You can identify many things that would contribute to his anxiety/depression. He may just need supplementation and better diet. You may find that he has allergies or sensitivities to foods, mold etc.... He may benefit from detox too. SonRise approach has " focus room " for older kids/adults that can work on issues like this. I share this regarding your question for counseling with ASD experience. Your son may benefit to work on his beliefs/perspectives on situations etc.....and SonRise would be perfect for this type of dialogue. Hope all goes well! > > Hi all, > > We are looking for information on how to help our son. He has a history of anxiety and some > depression. Guest guest
SonRise is a model coming from the Option Institute. Google Autism Treatment Center of America. This is a home based intervention. Parents travel to Massachusettes for training and them implement in a play room or focus room. You can do minutes a day or a full time 12 hour day program. This dependent on your goals for your family. They have outreach services and you can call for consults once your program is running. Parents run the treatment. They believe parents to be the expert for their child. > > > > Hi all, > > > > We are looking for information on how to help our son. He has a > history of anxiety and some > > depression.
