Guest guest
Abijann, Where do you go to look up ICD-9 codes? MaC abijann <no_reply > wrote: Your bilirubin level is high in range. However your creatine level is in normal range and good. When you cut yourself, your blood will flow from the wound. A person who is a diabete, will prick their finger and blood will come out. The time it takes for the blood to clot so that it doesn't just flow out is what is checked. PT, PTT listed on your blood work will give you an idea how well your blood is clotting by how much time it takes to do this. Your liver when healthy, made what is known as clotting factors. Now, since the liver cells are damaged, it may not do this very well and you will bruise easily and bleed alot easier. That is what they are checking with the INR. What happens is that different labs have a different range of what they considered to be normal. It was causing a problem if someone decided to go to different labs to have their testing done...they might be normal at one lab but at another it was considered abnormal. So, they got together and decided to make one range, called the international range (INR)...so they could be certain of whether or not the blood taken and clotting was normal or not. You do not state the results of your INR test here. Maybe the doctor doesn't use the INR, just the PT or PTT. I would ask him? The 571.2 stands for Alcoholic Cirrhosis of the liver The 456.0 stands for Esophagael varies with bleeding. Theses are known as the ICD-9 codes that doctors use in diagnosing a patient of what is wrong with them. They are used for billing purposes also. Does this help to understand better?
