I would LOVE to find something that caters to those kids who are in public school, but works w/ the kids during extended times school is out, etc. (plus siblings is a plus, but not necessary)....idea for any FANTASTIC special ed teachers. Also, I know I am early, but I want to know about all the summer programs ya'll know of out there along w/ your feed back. I will need to make a very detailed summer schedule to accomidate my 2 active kids (1 autistic and 1 typical). I have about 5 of the 11 summer weeks planned w/ camps and vacations, but want to know about therapy camps, schools, etc too. Better to keep them busy and benefit both kids (or atleast my autistic son) than to have them @ work w/ me or in a daycare.Any leads, etc for a GREAT in-home ABA therapist for just part of the summer would be great too...if anything this summer will be getting him to the next level and ready for 1st grade. Guest guest
, The Redd School in Klein/Spring has two sessions of summer camp from 9:00-3:30 all of June and July. My son really enjoyed the interaction with the other children. I also placed him for three weeks in August at Spectrum of Hope in the ABA classroom (SOH has summer programs) to help him get ready for the school routine again. We were very pleased with our son's summer arrangements and plan to do it again. Tammy Autism school and Summer activities/therapies Does anyone know of an ABA school or program just for the summer? Guest guest
I would like to tell you all about Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, an African-like-Safari right in your backyard, in Glen Rose, Texas—approximately an hour away from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. A field trip to Fossil Rim will provide children and adults with special needs with an experience unlike any other in the state. There are a lot of exciting things to see, discover and study at our facility. The attractions include giraffes, zebras, gemsboks, rhinos, cheetahs and sable antelope, among others. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, but we are different than a zoo. At Fossil Rim, you will see the animals roaming freely on 1,700 acres in a natural habitat. The animals at Fossil Rim are also viewed in actual family groupings and in herds rather than just one or two individuals. This gives you an opportunity to see many behaviors that are not viewable in a zoo environment. Nearly 30 percent of the species at Fossil Rim are endangered. The special needs programs at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center are for children and young adults with mild to moderate learning and developmental challenges, including but not limited to the following: mental retardation, developmental disabilities, Down Syndrome, autism, learning disabilities, Syndrome, Asperger Syndrome, ADD, Prader Willi, and ADHD. We provide a structured environment, presenting opportunities for understanding and appreciation through awareness of natural surroundings. Individual attention and guidance are emphasized at all times. We are having an ASD Retreat on April 24th – 26th. This will be an opportunity for families to come out and enjoy the peaceful nature of our Wolf Ridge Nature Camp, attend presentations (if you so wish) and have fun and interesting activities for the children. This will be a time of respite for the families. In June we will be hosting a mini summer camp for those with Special Needs and in July we will have 2 summer camps for those with special needs. Our Summer camps are 4 days and 3 nights long. Special diets are accommodated including the GFCF diet. Find out what nature do for your child and give me a cal or drop me a line. Please feel free to give me a call at to discuss your needs. Sylvia Dalton, C.I.G.
