Guest guest
Re my previous post, just to highlight that often pre-verbal kids have better musical and sight-reading skills than verbal kids. A brilliant Suzuki piano teacher, Daphne Proietto in Melbourne, Australia whom we know teaches mostly non-verbal kids (FREE!!) around 20 ASD kids in total - pity there aren't more of her sort over here. She finds some of her most gifted pupils are non-verbal and are now around Gd 7 - 8 piano, amazing sight readers and generally inspired by music and love it. Daphne is now writing a book about teaching piano to kids on the spectrum. Another amazing Suzuki piano teacher, Caroline Fraser in Peru, teaches kids only by miming, using no language at all, with everything done through gesture and facial expression - all very RDI!
