Ed's hepatic specialist at The Cleveland Clinic said his diabetes was a huge

factor in his liver failure. You always here about diabetes causing kidney

failure......no one says much about it causing liver failure.

This is a very long article on diabetes and liver disease.

It isn't terminology friendly...you need to know about how

the body metabolizes and stores fats, protein, and sugar (glucose).

However, it gives you alot of information and it helps you

decide whether or not you think it maybe a cause...Let me know

what you think.

We have also been told Terry's cirrhosis is a direct result of his diabetes.

My mom had NAFLD, diagnosed in the late '60s. She was also a diabetic

(probably for the last 15 years), and based on what I've read, it

certainly seems like the diabetes contributed to her moving through

NASH and then to cirrhosis.
