Guest guest
<<<I have been to orthopedists, chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, accupuncturists, osteopaths, neurologists, physiatrists and a CHEK practitioner. The advice I've recieved ranges from " stay off the bike and you will be fine " , to strengthening the VMO and glute med. to stretch the hamstrings because they are tight and your lower back is over stretched to just the opposite where I shouldn't stretch the hamstrings. Honestly, I recieved a ton of advice here.>>> ***There were no benefits from any of the latter treatments? Did any of the treatments aggravate the problem - cause more pain? What type of stretching did you perform? Duration, sets, intensities? Over the three years were you able to substitute the drop in cycling volumes with any additional activities e.g., swimming, weight training (could you give examples), jogging? How did these activities " feel " ? <<<Through tests like doing bridges, resisting their push on a straight leg raise, bending forward to see how my lower back is. Plus you can see the atrophy in my left leg and how the vmo doesn't fire correctly in comparison to the right.>>> ***I am assuming the majority of specialists would spend a great deal of time and effort trying to " awaken " / strengthen this weak point? Which of the specialists " ignored " the problem and what advice did they provide? <<<I also had an MRI done on my lower back and I was told that I have a small impingement on L3 and that this can be why I feel a weakness down the medial part of my left leg.>>> ***Is this their conclusion or your own? Based upon the latter what have you been recommended? Thanks Carruthers Wakefield, UK
