Has to do with the person your trying to convince wanting to save

face, and not admit their to stupid, and on your part it has to do

with being generous enough to let them do this.

Absolutely, . People have told me many times that this is why

saying " I am a prototype for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome who is out

climbing mountains as a result of mold avoidance " .

This is tantamount to saying " I figured it out first "

When I say that doctors refused to listen to this clue, the

subliminal outrage at my audacity is intensified beyond peoples

threshold of tolerance " And we don't listen to arrogant *holes " .

As you say, it sounds like a self promoting " blowhard " .

And they miss out on gaining information from an experienced source.

The first time I saw extreme examples in which people would deprive

themselves of information, even to their own detriment, because the

lack of a pursuasive technique inspired such umbrage, was in Hang

Gliding.

Advanced pilots with lots of experience would see a novice who was

struggling with a maneuver and trying actions which were headed in a

dangerous direction - and offer advice.

These experienced pilots wanted to help, but didn't want to waste

good flying time, so the advice tended to be terse: " Hey, you need

to carry more speed through your turns, or you are going to tipstall

into a flatspin "

The flush of anger at being accused of bad technique often resulted

in " Why don't you mind your own damned business. You Hang IV's think

you own the sky or something! "

Later at the scene of the crash, people would mill around and some

would say " This is terrible. Hang Gliding is so dangerous " and would

be confused, shocked and offended when a few individuals would speak

ill of the victim, and mysteriously comment:

" Nahhh, he did it to himself. "
