Guest guest
My daughter has been diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. She currently is in occupational therapy once a week and is doing a listening therapy by Sheila Frick. She is making great progress with her vestibular system, however, it doesn't seem to be doing anything with her 4s. I took a printout of 4s from your website to the OT and last week she came up to me and said, " This describes her to a T and also my son! " She was extremely interested in trying to find something to relieve the distress. She wants to try to individualize the sound therapy she is currently using with the different frequencies. She mentioned talking to our local college and children's hospital to possibly do a case study on her. My daughter has had a couple different tests with the audiologist and I am getting a copy of these this week. The OT (which is also the owner of the facility) is going to have some audiologists she works with read them and do more testing. My question is, what type of testing should we request she get other than the standard hearing test. I'm very excited that I found someone in the area willing to do what it takes to help. As I've mentioned awhile ago, I have had great responses from the places I've taken her to. The problem is, they have no idea where to start. Any instructions would be greatly appreciated!!! Guest guest
I have not been able to discover at this point any particular testing for this condition. It is mostly case history and subjective impressions, i.e., the sufferer as well as sig. others including parents, teachers, etc. etc. I think that there will be tests in the future, in the meantime, the audiologist can do the regular tests plus add an LDL by Tone test to see if there are also hyperacusic measurements. Please pass along my phone no to the audiologist if she or he wishes to talk over the situation. Marsha AuD
